NEW: For the first time, ProPublica has been able to quantify how many U.S. citizen children have been directly affected by Trumpâs immigration crackdown: more than 11,000 kids had a parent detained â and thatâs an undercount. 1/ đ§ľ

The latest review from JAMA Pediatrics has uncovered that 26% of trans youth have attempted suicide. That's actual attempts, ideation was even higher.
The trend was most pronounced in North America, where anti-trans laws have been common.
The latest from our writer S. Baum.
The number of trans youth suicides in the UK quadrupled in 2021 following significant restrictions in access to care. The NHS tried to cover this up with a fake report that tried to hide the truth.

BREAKING: The federal government has filed a motion seeking to end asylum claims for the family of Liam Conejo Ramos, according to the lawyer representing the family.
Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.
âIâm sure youâre aware of our connections with the Trump Administration,â the North Carolina Republican Party's communications director wrote in an email response to us. âI would strongly suggest dropping this story.â
We didn't. #ICYMI, read the story that he wanted dropped:
1. New federal rules were released last week banning gender affirming care for youth at hospitals nationwide.
Those rules don't go into effect until public comment, months from now.
But it appears Sec. Kennedy is using an arcane process to try to implement them immediately.
Our latest story.
The House is expected to vote later this week on H.R. 3492, Marjorie Taylor Greeneâs extreme bill that would impose severe financial penalties and up to a 10-year prison sentence for providers who deliver lifesaving, essential healthcare to transgender and gender diverse patients.
For the safety of transgender and intersex youth, for the rights
of providers to care for their patients, and for the rights of parents to support their children in accessing the healthcare
they need, urge your representative to vote NO on H.R. 3492.
A screenshot of a news headline from The Times. The headline reads: "Trans people could be banned from single-sex spaces based on how they look." Below, the sub-headline states: "The Times has seen the equalities watchdogâs final guidance, which Whitehall figures fear Bridget Phillipson is delaying to avoid a political backlash." The article is written by Geraldine Scott, Assistant Political Editor, and is dated Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The UK is considering a policy that would effectively segregate trans people from society. It would bar trans people from "single sex spaces" even when they use the facility of their sex assigned at birth.
This is a full on policy of segregation without even the benefit of separate facilities.
#NoKings in Dublin, Ireland. According to organizers, approximately 400 people showed up.
This article from ASAN's Executive Director Colin Killick talks about how policies and misinformation from the Trump administration hurt and ignore autistic people. www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...
Donald Trump wants people to work for their Medicaidâbut he's making it even harder for disabled and chronically ill people to find accessible jobs.
This is eugenicist language. Autism is a neurotype that has existed forever.
This is the same eugenicist language used in Bell v. Buck (1927), a yet-to-be overturned SCOTUS decision that legalised involuntary sterilisation of disabled and neurodivergent people in the US.
NEW: Weâve documented nearly 50 incidents of immigration officers shattering car windows to make arrests â a tactic experts say was rarely used before Trump took office.
ICE claims officers use a âminimum amount of force.â
You can judge for yourself.

My quick take on Monday afternoon's unexplained #SCOTUS ruling in the Department of Education downsizing caseâand how the justices' inconsistent treatment of the (similarly postured) student loan cases during the Biden administration illustrates in technicolor why the Court needs to explain itself:
âIf anyone...agrees sheltered workshops should continue, [they] obviously never worked at one."
For @motherjones.com, I spoke with disabled workers who used to be paid subminimum wage about Trump admin nixing the plan to end it for disabled people federally.

1. In a devastating ruling out of the 11th Circuit, a trans female teacher will be forced to use "Mr." in the classroom in accordance with Florida law.
Trump appointed judges ruled that this is not somehow a first amendment violation.
The dissent is scathing.

The liberal justices of the U.S. Supreme Court are frustrated with their colleagues, and they're making it clear in what they say â and what they don't.

This ruling isnât about freedom or inclusivity. There is no freedom in a classroom where queer families are erased. There is no inclusivity for preschoolers who are separated from their peers during storytime. This decision will promote fear, close minds, and exclude countless Americans from their school communities. It is also certain to lead to âsoft censorshipâ â where there will be no need to âopt outâ of specific books because they will not make it to the shelves, read-alouds, or lessons in the first place. This is a dangerous path, one that teaches our elementary students to be threatened by their classmates, to fear their friendsâ families, their teachers, and our wide, diverse world. Justice Sotomayor said it clearly in her dissent: "The harm will not be borne by educators alone: Children will suffer too."

No King Protest in Dublin, Ireland
Securing appropriate accommodations is likely going to become more difficult as universities and colleges reduce their diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility practices under the threat of losing federal funding from the Trump administration.
