Trump Has Detained the Parents of More Than 11,000 U.S. Citizen Kids A ProPublica analysis of new ICE data shows that Trump has detained parents of U.S. citizen children at about twice the rate that Biden did, and moms have been deported four times as often.

NEW: For the first time, ProPublica has been able to quantify how many U.S. citizen children have been directly affected by Trump’s immigration crackdown: more than 11,000 kids had a parent detained — and that’s an undercount. 1/ 🧵

The latest review from JAMA Pediatrics has uncovered that 26% of trans youth have attempted suicide. That's actual attempts, ideation was even higher.

New data shows surge in trans kids’ suicides following healthcare rollbacks | Good Law Project A freedom of information request by Good Law Project has found that deaths by suicide of trans young people under 18 surged following the withdrawal of gender-affirming healthcare

The number of trans youth suicides in the UK quadrupled in 2021 following significant restrictions in access to care. The NHS tried to cover this up with a fake report that tried to hide the truth.

Kansas just passed a monstrous bill enabling criminal penalties and vigilante lawsuits for trans people using the bathroom according to their gender identity and requires them to surrender their current drivers licenses and birth certificates if it does not match their sex assigned at birth.

HHS Sec. Kennedy Attempts To Stop Trans Youth Care In Hospitals Nationwide—Before New Federal Rules Take Effect Like many of the Trump regime’s attempted powergrabs, this kind of piecemeal and disheveled rulemaking is enforced at least in part by fear and sheer uncertainty.

1. New federal rules were released last week banning gender affirming care for youth at hospitals nationwide.

Those rules don't go into effect until public comment, months from now.

But it appears Sec. Kennedy is using an arcane process to try to implement them immediately.

Our latest story.

The House is expected to vote later this week on H.R. 3492, Marjorie Taylor Greene’s extreme bill that would impose severe financial penalties and up to a 10-year prison sentence for providers who deliver lifesaving, essential healthcare to transgender and gender diverse patients.

For the safety of transgender and intersex youth, for the rights
of providers to care for their patients, and for the rights of parents to support their children in accessing the healthcare
they need, urge your representative to vote NO on H.R. 3492.

The UK is considering a policy that would effectively segregate trans people from society. It would bar trans people from "single sex spaces" even when they use the facility of their sex assigned at birth.

This is a full on policy of segregation without even the benefit of separate facilities.

The biggest hurdle to Trump's Medicaid work requirements: the war on disabled workers The White House is telling Medicaid users to get jobs—while attacking everything that makes that possible.

Donald Trump wants people to work for their Medicaid—but he's making it even harder for disabled and chronically ill people to find accessible jobs.

This is eugenicist language. Autism is a neurotype that has existed forever.

This is the same eugenicist language used in Bell v. Buck (1927), a yet-to-be overturned SCOTUS decision that legalised involuntary sterilisation of disabled and neurodivergent people in the US.

167. The Inconsistent Court Strikes Again Comparing Monday's unexplained grant of emergency relief in the Department of Education downsizing case to how the justices handled President Biden's student loan program is ... telling.

My quick take on Monday afternoon's unexplained #SCOTUS ruling in the Department of Education downsizing case—and how the justices' inconsistent treatment of the (similarly postured) student loan cases during the Biden administration illustrates in technicolor why the Court needs to explain itself:

“If anyone...agrees sheltered workshops should continue, [they] obviously never worked at one."

For @motherjones.com, I spoke with disabled workers who used to be paid subminimum wage about Trump admin nixing the plan to end it for disabled people federally.

11th Circuit Rules Trans Teacher Must Misgender Herself In Classroom In Accordance With FL Law The ruling by Trump-appointed judges contradicts other classroom speech cases and is a clear case of the state barring disfavored speech, according to the dissent.

1. In a devastating ruling out of the 11th Circuit, a trans female teacher will be forced to use "Mr." in the classroom in accordance with Florida law.

Trump appointed judges ruled that this is not somehow a first amendment violation.

The dissent is scathing.

This ruling isn’t about freedom or inclusivity. There is no freedom in a classroom where queer families are erased. There is no inclusivity for preschoolers who are separated from their peers during storytime. This decision will promote fear, close minds, and exclude countless Americans from their school communities. It is also certain to lead to “soft censorship” – where there will be no need to “opt out” of specific books because they will not make it to the shelves, read-alouds, or lessons in the first place.

This is a dangerous path, one that teaches our elementary students to be threatened by their classmates, to fear their friends’ families, their teachers, and our wide, diverse world. Justice Sotomayor said it clearly in her dissent: "The harm will not be borne by educators alone: Children will suffer too."

Securing appropriate accommodations is likely going to become more difficult as universities and colleges reduce their diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility practices under the threat of losing federal funding from the Trump administration.
