May I ask what you mean by unproductive? I'm not on Twitter so genuinely don't know!
@lillianayoung.bsky.social I saw your post on reddit and decided to follow you and learn more. Best wishes running! Indiana needs you, from the sound of it.
OF THE EMPIRE We will be known as a culture that feared death and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity for the few and cared little for the penury of the many. We will be known as a culture that taught and rewarded the amassing of things, that spoke little if at all about the quality of life for people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a commodity. And they will say that this structure was held together politically, which it was, and they will say also that our politics was no more than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of the heart, and that the heart, in those days, was small, and hard, and full of meanness.
From Mary Oliver
Things to do that are more fun and productive than watching politics today:
- play an untouched game in your library
- finish that craft or art project
- finally scrub your bathroom baseboards
- floss, like, really thoroughly
- literally anything
I think the ennui has finally surpassed the burnout, so it's time to actually finish writing one of the books collecting dust in my save files.
Starting over on a new social media site feels a LOT like changing schools in eighth grade, except this time I'm (almost) 40 and don't particularly care if I'm popular. ๐
I am a feral introvert and do not remember how to do the social media.
