Photo taken in what I believe was Big Bend National Park. I was able to catch these cactus blooms after spring rain. Not sure the type of cacti, but they stood out among the foliage. #ColorADay #RedWed

A stone wall, partially collapsed, runs diagonally through the frame. A perpendicular wall adjoins it at far left. In the middle distance, center left, we see another stone wall remnant. The sky is streaked with thin clouds and traces of contrails.

Pond in Colorado near Creede. Created by what I assume is a beaver dam. Great hiking with a group of friends many years ago.

March 2, 2026 The Economistโ€™s Middle East correspondent Gregg Carlstrom noted that Trump appears to be workshopping the causes for his attacks on Iran and his goals for the war by talking to journalists.

โ€œAs the conflagration spreads, taking the lives of now six of our military personnel, the administration is now discovering that the American people would like to know why we are engaged in what appears to be a war of choice.โ€

Slot canyon, New Mexico style. Different geology from the sandstone wonders of Arizona but beautiful in its own way.

It's been far too long since I've spent some time photographing a slot canyon... I took this during a visit to Canyon X (Navajo Nation in Arizona) back in April 2017.
