It’s a dark night when you look at the news and are forced to admit that you no longer believe in the power of the FIFA peace prize

Warra trophies (this has led us to)
With that being the case, and with Citeh looking iffy too…could we?
So much that I booked a camper van to drive from Madrid to Bilbao

I can both be absolutely beyond thrilled that we’ve won a trophy and won it ‘the right way’ (55yo ST holder with mostly Chelsea fans for friends, btw)….and also forensic enough, 10 days away from the initial emotion, to look at our style of football and the oppo as some mitigation looking fwd
For me, it all rests on who the potential replacements are. The problem being that there is no standout candidate that pretty much all fans would see as making complete sense.
This is absolutely correct on the EL. Getting to the Final was par. Winning it was a lovely, possible slight overachievement. A calm analysis is that the opposition were very beatable with our squad.
This is it, really. The romantic side where he pushes on and gets it all correct is strong and would love it. But the practical side has witnessed a stubborn streak that could have us floundering and out of a few cups by December, with no good replacements available.
We’ve broken them.
That’s what you get for largeing it, fish shaggers.
From an Everton fan??? Got some front
Ooh you’re a bitter one
If he thinks that’s true then it probably is…by him, at least
Haha. Forgot about The Dragon. So we’ve got 2 options there. Plus all the signings we’re going to make. PL Champions 25/26 incoming
#Villa are a banter club. Play the Europa League tune to walk out for their CL tie, then think they can live with the big boys. You’ve had your fun. Time’s up.
It would stop him fighting with the fans 😅
It’s actually not a bad idea at all.
Of course, I’m not questioning the goal just the method of getting there. I have zero faith in Ange pulling this off. But I don’t think we’re much good on the break either, or at defending in a low block, for that matter.
I know what you mean but we are not a club that’s been very good at soaking up pressure in the past and I’m not sure VDV & Romero are those guys
Absolutely no way this happening.
True, altho in earliest (successful) Angeball I remember a lot going through Biss who was a press-resistant line-breaking monster. Then he fell off a cliff and the focus has fallen on Romero’s passing (or how we miss it when he’s injured). I’m ready to give Ange 1 more season with an improved squad.
…or that we have a system that makes the very best use of their very best attributes? Although I think the system also has other flaws btw
Yes the squad needs more building whichever way we go but it would need more focus on defence or midfield depending if he went 3 ATB, but I agree that the current squad looks better set up for it at the moment
That is absolutely fair comment but I guess no other (next) manager is going to play a 2-3-2-3 quite like Ange either…
Been wondering whether, if Ange departs, our squad is better suited to 3 at the back:
1. Romero and VDV weak in the air - add Danso
2. Porro, Spence better in attack (Wing back?) than defence (Udogie not so much)
3. Son, Tel, Johnson all better as Inside Forwards?
But we’d need at least 1 decent 6
Yup, both of your posts describe my position. There has to come a time again where we dominate this type of opposition, or at very least get a draw when we’re off colour. Without this, it’s impossible to say we’re making progress. Difficult to have faith in that after this performance.
