Sanchez is right: the choice is btwn "becoming closed & impoverished societies or open & prosperous ones". In the Routledge Guide to the European Union, 2nd ed, I wrote that countries discouraging migrants wd be losers; those that welcomed them & fitted them into economies & societies wd be winners.

Opinion | I’m the Prime Minister of Spain. This Is Why the West Needs Migrants. In Spain, it is our duty to become the welcoming and tolerant society our ancestors would have hoped to find on the other side of our borders.

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

“MAGA-style leaders may say that our country can’t handle taking in so many migrants, that this is a suicidal move — the desperate act of a collapsing country,” writes Pedro Sánchez, the prime minister of Spain. “But don’t let them fool you. Spain is booming.”

TfL wants to create a publicly owned bus company for London If established, it would be the first major publicly owned bus company to operate in the capital for thirty years.

Publicly-owned buses across Britain have already reinvested profits back into networks, delivered high quality services & rising ridership numbers.

They're also innovators — leading the transition to electric buses & free Wi-Fi.

Quite aside the shocking moral disregard for women's lives, the report cited here v dramatically underestimates the economic contribution of women's unpaid labour, leading to a deeply fallacious conclusion about women's monetary value.
It's what happens when men make decisions without women present

Conspiracy theories are increasingly prominent in Spanish politics. Their narratives are being instrumentalised by both the radical right and left to shape social perceptions and delegitimise institutions. blogs.lse.ac.uk/europpblog/2...
