Maybe I like couples that look like cartoon henchmen together though. Maybe that’s hot too. because it makes the fat one look larger.
thanks man i dont know how many more weeks i can handle like this
the fucking stress i put myself under for $5 an hour
my brother's girlfriend is hot
hm... fair... I dont see issues with that logic... maybe im turning around on this a bit. I still have a hard time thinking this is going to benefit most indies.. I feel like once the hype wears off (bc still glitch and hazbin are the main 2 that ppl bring up..) we'll be back here again.. bah.
I still detest glitch calling itself indie because its a disservice to like... everything that indie has been. Its still an ableist nepotistic company but... I guess... if it lowers the bar for what theatres will accept thats good, even if it raises the bar for normal indies and muddies the water..
it lowers the barrier of entry.. hmm that is a valid point, you right. still. hard to feel optimistic when that barrier is 1/2 a billion views on your pilot.. i dunno. dont think theatres are seeing it and being like "oh yes i love tadc the indie show" they think "oh okay, money, yum".. but hm......
also glitch cares as much about you as the billionares do. An indie with a corporate mindset is still corporate.
by claiming to be one and raising the bar more than any indie can actually pass... Most people who sit in those theatre seats are going to be thinking "I'm doing my part to help indie animation!1!" while actual indies are cleaning toilets and making vrchat furry porn. I'm getting so fuckin tired!!!
it just feels like a rich company getting richer.
I would feel less annoyed if glitch wasnt so heavy on the damn merch, idk! This is the part where it comes out that a lot of this is just my own opinions, but i still think glitch is doing a disservice to most indies
I also dont know how many animators each episode has. but. idk. None of this feels indie, none of this feels like its going to actually elevate obscure voices. It feels corporate. but at least a corporate company is honest that its corporate and doesnt pretend to be down-to-earth.. like, this is jus
idk. I look at shows like smiling friends, who bring on independent guest animations and nonconventional artists almost every episode, and think thats what indie animation *should* feel like. and not this corporate bs.
Ironic for me to say this conisdering adult swim is definitely not indie, and
*well shit, person
[apologies if thats misinterpreted, wrong i meant man gender-neutrally, i cant explain that well but i hope you get what i mean]
of creators like bunlith who were people who already worked on tadc or with glitch. So like sure, if you're in that little intertwined group you benefit from it, but again this is just a 1 company doing well. the rest of the indies are still scraping by so, pointless to call this a victory for indie
Sure. its impressive that they have gotten something that far, but. like. its still acting like any kind of a representation of the greater indie space, but means nothing for indie animation. Its good for glitch, good for them 🤷 but people need to stop pretending this does anything benficial outside
Not sure what kind of a 'gotcha' moment that is meant to be, because glitch is making a show and those normally have smaller productions (but for a longer period yadda yadda) SO many shows are made with less than 100 people I dont care enough to back that up, i just know it.
well shit man most people who make art arent trying to get it in to theatres. Most people are not that money-hungry, theyre trying to make enough to live off of.
I dont know every movie production off my head. Also, this isnt a movie, this is just the episodes being shown in a theatre.
undertale started out with a $50,000 kickstarter, also.. I am 100% certain if almost anyone else was given $50,000 and had the same help, they'd b able to make something the same/better
I survive on $4/hour doing freelance. $50,000 would almost certainly last me 6 or 7 years. I'm so sick of all this
Glitch's success doesnt affect anyone except Glitch + their nepo hires. If anything, it takes resources and focus away from up/coming indies. People think by watching tadc/buying merch theyre helping indie animation, instead of *actually* looking for original projects made by solo ppl or small teams
anything for the general independent space that has been struggling for.. forever already..
Glitch might have gotten to a point of successfullness by getting lucky that their shows were recognized, but they also started out with a lot more resources and money compared to any artist or creator i know
yeah you get it. Its just incredibly frustrating that the biggest / most talked about 'indie' project is the studio that operates the most like an industry one. self funded really means nothing if you still operate the exact same... it just feels like coping when people act as if this will mean
its hard to care about it because its just an american vanity project, and like everything else from the US lately it doesnt actually benefit anyone on earth.
because its a company that already has the resources that exceeds a lot of medium sized studios. Its "indie" but nothing about it is actually independent or achievable for what the bulk of actual indies are. Its a vanity label and thats it
every indie show from now on is going to be compared to tadc, it already *has* been like that since the rotten thing came out. The thing is, most indie creators do not have 100 industry employees, or millions in funding. glitch is the indie equivelent of smurfing
this moment isnt actually that important though, because most indies dont even have the money to get their projects off the ground, let alone all of this shit. All glitch has done for indies is given an unreachable comparision points for ACTUAL indies, especially ones who are self producing
it only actually gives you benefits if you already have a shitload of money to begin with, which most indie creators dont have. glitch doesnt represent any actual indie values or sentiments, theyre a company
I remember when indie meant non-industry. Most of glitch's employees are from the industry. This isnt an indie studio, its a company that cant get an investor - not that they need it, they just sell overpriced merch every few weeks
yeah nice. "indie" animation with a ceo, and 100 industry employees. You're stretching the definition of indie so fuckin thin. Youre a company making a product.
cool. "indie" animation.
