If you haven’t called your representatives yet, try it, your voice matters when you choose to use it.

Just got myself totally tongue-tied calling @merkley.senate.gov office and having someone actually pick up.
I’m grateful to have two great senators and to be able to thank them. I appreciate that they listen to people like me who are asking them to do more right now.
@schumer.senate.gov yet again, you’ve failed us. Stop pretending you represent us and let someone who’s actually interested in leadership of the opposition party. I’ll be telling my senators today that we need different party leadership.
@glasp.bsky.social It's such a shame you still don't have a Firefox extension, I'd love to use your service.
@schumer.senate.gov yesterday you voted against the will of the people and most of your peers. We need a leader in the senate with the will to fight and you chose another path. Step aside and let someone who has not set our faith in them ablaze the chance to be the leader we need.
@schumer.senate.gov cowardice and betrayal of the American people is deeply disappointing. I didn’t expect you to be a fighter but I also never thought you’d knife the most disadvantaged of us in the back. I’m outraged, disgusted and hurt by your actions. I will support anyone who runs against you.
Musk is outrageous and awful, *but he's a distraction.*
What matters today is what was signed in the Oval Office. Every day Americans, regardless of citizenship, lost a lot of important rights today.
If you're not feeling the weight of that, maybe they just haven't made you a target yet.
Graphite has come a long way in 2024. Read about the progress made and the plans for the upcoming year: graphite.rs/blog/year-in...
He’s never been my favorite but he’s a master of his craft and has touched so comic many characters I’m a fan of. I feel really conflicted about whether I can go on to support all the good people that participated in his shows, narrated the full cast audiobooks, drew the comics and support him.
Yeah, it really was. Definitely one of the worse accounts of this and one that hits pretty hard as a former fan of his work.
Just read the full article, my condemnation wasn’t nearly strong enough.
This entire exchange says so much! Thank you to Senator Tim Kaine for going straight for the throat!

Ghost is fantastic!
It’s such a goddamn saddening waste of tremendous talent and imagination.

They really should have committed to this as the headline, not just the page title. It's perfect.
Tim sold “his brick.” He's just another fucking billionaire now.

My legal name is now Christin White and designated me legally female. The judge signed is it at 10:30 PM December 25th so — while very weird — it’s officially the best Christmas present ever.
"It's been exactly ten years. A whole decade, and the world hasn't learned, a goddamn thing."
Absolutely devastating.

"The Fish Of Theseus." I want to groan, but that's actually kind of clever for a rust rewrite completion announcement, especially given the component-by-component approach they used. Either way, great write-up of *a lot* of very cool work. fishshell.com/blog/rustport/
Anyone else remember Dark Castle? The original Mac version. I probably haven’t thought about it in decades but one of my earliest computer memories was dad bringing his Mac from work home over Christmas one year and letting me play it. I may need revisit it. youtu.be/cN37t8MRr-Y?...
Excerpt from their About Us page, beyond the character count for duplication here. https://stract.com/about I’ve highlighted: - “We will never track you. Period.” - “Oh, and if we ever become evil (maybe by changing our motto) please take our code and start a competitor.” [Funding from:] - “grant from NLnet” - “European Commission's Next Generation Internet” - “we will only use your current search to match ads and will never track you across searches.”
Features excerpt from their GitHub repo with my highlights represents by asterisks: - Keyword search that respects your search query. - *Fully independent search index with our own crawler.* - Advanced query syntax (site:, intitle: etc.). - DDG-style !bang syntax - Wikipedia and stackoverflow sidebar - *De-rank websites with third-party trackers* - Use optics to almost endlessly customize your search results. - Limit your searches to blogs, indieweb, educational content etc. - Customize how signals are combined during search for the final search result - *Prioritize links (centrality) from the sites you trust.* - Explore the web and find sites similar to the ones you like. - And much more!
Huh, #Stract is interesting. Open-source, no Silicon Valley VC funding, independent index, power features and customization, no sign of AI to be found (and no discussion of it on the repo). They certainly have my attention.
Oh, and yes, of course it's mostly written in #rust.

‘“Faith without works is dead.” Yet you do nothing. You sit idle while CEOs are treated like royalty, and children like sacrifices.
Not a good sign. Speed running the Twitter progression indeed.

Anti-vaxxers, whatever the fuck this nightmare is; the thing that these people miss is just how much better the world is with autistic people in it. They have unique challenges, sure, but they also have unique gifts, they belong here every bit as much as allistic people do bsky.app/profile/jefs...
