Really great write up around Detroit’s draft record from 2012-2021.

I have a suspicion they’re gonna roll this back to 2 minutes, but that looks like 5 to me.
Swayman and Luukkonen have both had memorable long range goals against this year I guess
Crowd audio mixing for Bruins/Sabres seems to have some sort of weird feedback going on. Will a single person at ESPN notice? Of course not.
I'd have some sympathy about not knowing Luukkonen's name if he was a backup coming into the game unexpectedly on a random regular season Tuesday night game or whatever.
But man, not knowing how to pronounce his name now is just telling on yourself that you don't watch hockey at all.
It's also Gary Bettman's job to get on the phone with ESPN and scream at them about this.

It's Levy, Subban, and Messier's job to know how to pronounce Luukonen's name. It is not my job, and I know how.
It's Hextall's job to know Tage Thompson was semi-famously traded from the Blues. It is not my job, and I know that.
It's also ESPN's job to mix audio
Maybe Steve Yzerman is just sort of hoping we’ll all forget about the post season media availability
Buffalo what
Seems likely. Cossa’s out of waiver eligibility so he’s either the backup next year or he’s traded. Kinda forces their hand at this point
HAH I just fired off a similar post and then scrolled down to see you said the same. Hard to argue with the results
Postava had a .937 in GR this season. There’s a serious argument to trade Cossa and make him Gibson’s backup next season.
Yeah neither Kasper nor Danielson lit the world on fire or anything this year, but man they can at least do what Compher does while being way hungrier and costing less.
Sabres in 6
Lightning in 5
Hurricanes in 5
Flyers in 7
Avs in 4
Wild in 7
Utah in 6
Oilers in 5
For comparison:
* Even JVR hit 31 points
* Shortest guy on the team in DeBrincat had far more hits with 38
* MBN racked up nearly 2x as many hits as Compher while only playing 12 games
Expanding on the stat @wingedwheelpodcast.com crew mentioned, Compher is the only full-time forward on the team who was a member of the 30/30 Club: less than 30 points AND 30 hits.
Of 13 F with > 200 mins at 5v5 he was
* 12th in xG share
* 12th in shot attempts/60
* 13th in SOG/60
He's a jersey.
Yeah it would be nice. It's impossible to look at that list of d-men I posted the other day and not immediately think the way this group evaluates D at the pro level is broken.
Would be thrilled with any of these guys, though obviously 2 of them are quite employed now in better situations. But if I was Chris Ilitch surveying what's out there, Dellow or really anyone who has worked with these guys would definitely be on my short list
Tulsky and Mehta now both being GMs is so wild for me after following them for so long. Only a matter of time before Dellow gets his shot too.

McLellan is feeeeed up. Things must be really ugly behind the scenes.
Just now seeing what the Wings did tonight HAHA.
Great plan to give next season's backup Cossa 0 starts the entire year.
I don’t know for sure that it’s true. But he would know people who would know for sure, and it generally makes sense
Sure, but if Vancouver gives permission there’s no reason they can’t talk numbers on the phone and quietly agree to extend on July 1.
Keith Gave casually dropped a mini-bomb tonight over at the place I otherwise try not to look at often.
Not sure if it makes me feel better or worse. But it does make sense.
Yeah I've been skeptical of Danielson since the start. He'll be an NHLer, but I've never believed he's got top-6 offense.
I thought MBN was better than his NHL stat line, and his AHL results back that up IMO. And yeah Augustine has real star potential.
Yeah pretty much. You do sometimes get huge leaps out of nowhere right around this age for highly touted prospects. But never guaranteed. Next few years basically hinge on one or two doing that.
It’s the exact same article I posted above :P
I don't think a lot of NHL GMs are very smart, honestly.
But yes, the article gets into that. So much of the leadership under Yzerman all started in the late Holland era when the team also wasn't really any good.
The fact that the Wings have made the same mistakes over and over under Yzerman, and there’s been no front-office changes under him is a huge indictment.
Also I will always be bitter about selecting Danielson over Benson.

Alex Drain crushes this one as always. Whole thing is worth the read, but man these two paragraphs nail the main concern for me.
