i love history and every time i try to go find something specific to my country abt traditions its either dissected in french as if they were talking abt aliens or just non existent. it is truly devastating

oral storytelling implies there is a community who will listen and people to pass it on. and europeans destroyed both african written records and separated the communities who knew the oral traditions. and then decided it wasn't enough and sent christian missionaries to eradicate our cultures.

i think praying as a soothing method is interesting bc it allows you the space to speak aloud what is going on which takes it off your soul i think. lightens the load kinda. when thoughts become spoken word they are less scary i think
