One of my all time favourite #Heartstone decks, Libram Paladin, is back albeit in a quite different form from a few years ago. So I'm enjoying some Standard play, which is increasingly rare for me.

How predictable that Bad Tidings, an upcoming British Christmas film co-written by and starring #blind comedian Chris McCausland, will be streamed by broadcasting giant Sky without #audioDescription because their streaming services (plural) still don't support it in 2024. #accessibility

It's a small thing, but the fact that single-book page titles on #Audible UK now end with the text "Free with trial", despite me being logged into an account with an active subscription, credits remaining, and a library size in four digits is unreasonably irritating to me.

On one hand, I did a healthy thing yesterday by getting a COVID booster. On the other, I followed it up with a huge pizza and mozzarella bread. I have no regrets.

I can't wait for Chrome to be sold to a company even worse at #accessibility than Google is. Thanks DoJ!

I have a feeling they messed it up while introducing "type to Siri", which uses the same swipe-up gesture as an entrypoint.

I completely agree.

Thank you so much. I appreciate both the quick change and being dropped a note about it.

Disappointed to see a talk named "The Usability Blind Spot" on an #accessibility conference schedule (axe-con 2025).

I'll be on Zoom calls from 9:30 AM through to 4 PM today, non-stop. Send help and/or supplies.

After updating to iOS 18.1, VoiceOver now seems to pass an unwanted gesture through to the screen most times I go to swipe up for Home or the App Switcher. For such a small change, it's surprisingly off-putting.

Did I ever tell you the story of the email thread I can't reply to on my phone because #VoiceOver sees a text field it claims is 16 thousand pages long and hence refuses to let me focus it? #accessibility

Well this is an interesting emoji (from its accessible name at least): ❤️‍🩹

Web performance and accessibility go hand in hand. To make a radio button in Material UI, you need 6 HTML elements, 66 CSS selectors, and 30KB minified JavaScript.

Don't throw out what the browser gives us for free.

The Mantis doesn't seem to retain headings in Word documents after opening them as books. So, HTML it is.

If I have an EPUB eBook, and want to read it in the Library app on the Mantis Q40 with heading navigation being possible, what's the best format to convert it to? I'm thinking either HTML or Microsoft Word.

Bought a lovely oversized jumper. One wash and now it fits perfectly. Honestly, what is the fucking point.

Bluesky Network Analyzer Find accounts that you don't follow (yet) but are followed by lots of accounts that you do follow.

Here's a useful tool for Bluesky

Type your account name in and activate

It will come up with a list of the accounts followed by the people you follow..

If you type in your password it will give that list with an optional follow button to make life easy.

Try it 💙💙

Which software are you using for the translation/embossing bit?

How did you obtain an image of this as-yet unreleased assistive tech?

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

I found over 130 people to follow on #Bluesky without much effort, but only the tiniest handful are blind. I have no objection to keeping up with the blindness community on #Mastodon, but choice is good, and I hope the development of #accessible BS clients accelerates soon.

I couldn't agree more, although I do wish they hadn't done the most recent special. It had a kind of negative undertone to it that I felt didn't belong.

I know I’m woefully late to the party, but have finally (binge) watched Detectorists the past week or two and it’s just wonderful: full of gentleness and decency. And so beautifully written.

I don't know why I read James Herbert. He's like Stephen King with the guardrails removed. King tends toward satisfying and arguably happy endings, the monster is banished. Herbert wakes me up in the middle of the night with an unseen figure straddling my chest, crushing my beating heart.

(Butchering the grammar of this introduction post to fit within the character limit really hurt me.)

Profile photo alt: A closely cropped headshot of a White man with light skin and a neutral (probably far too serious) expression on his round face. His short dark hair is parted in the middle and slightly longer on top. He is wearing a dark t-shirt and his large eyes look past our right shoulder.
