Welp, I’m staying over at that place but I’ll be checking in here more often…

At 12:30, when the rain finally stopped, we got ready to shoot and…the fountain switched off and then drained. We all died.

Wrapping at 4:30am I took our gear back to the office and passed out, waking up four hours later and then starting work.

That’s my #Beckham story. 🙂

They gave us tickets to his first game. I stood in RFK stadium and screamed myself hoarse when he came on. Afterwards I went to a shoot we had that night at the US Capitol and was drenched standing by the Senate fountain at Louisiana and D NW.

I met him before his first MLS game, I was part of the Fox?/ESPN? crew for an interview. “Hi, I’m David.” He introduced himself to everyone in the room like that. I was in awe. The most famous person in the world, like we needed an introduction. Even the CREW!!! But he did it.

So much of it is personal to me. Him at Man U, the Spice Boys, the tabloids, seeing him sent off in ‘98 while in a conference room in San Francisco, the Greece match where he WILLED us to the World Cup…the greatest performance I’ve ever seen on a pitch.

The Beckham documentary series on Netflix is tremendous. Cannot recommend highly enough.
