Can you imagine?
You're driving down a country road.
You see spheres that appear to be moving.
Why? What could it be?
You get closer.
You look.
A flock of chickens are out here like bubble boy

Thank you! The simple one of her yawning is kind of my favorite. I want to practice more so I can get pictures that capture her inherent goofiness without looking like I just messed up cat anatomy. Her yawns are absurdly huge.
Attempting to draw the real funny facial expressions of a cat from photo reference gave me a lot of sympathy for medieval monks attempting to draw cats in marginalia. It’s no surprise they came out so weird.
Squashy looking cat faces in pen and ink
Four attempts at cat faces in pen and in. They look alarmingly humanoid.
Many variations on cats in pen and ink. Some decent curled up cats, uncanny cat faces, and a minimal sketch of a cat yawning hugey that is kind of bad but has good emotiveness.
A cat face in pen ans ink with the mouth wide open and the tongue sticking out. It looks kind of scary rather than yawning
Last year I painted him a cake card, but he said he likes pen and ink more, so that’s what I uses this time. I don’t normally draw cats, so there were a few outtakes before I got one that kind of looks like our cat. I drew from photo references of her.

An ink drawing of a curled up tabby cat. Above the cat it says “It’s your birthday, so treat yourself. Naps, tea, tinned fish! - Shinjuku
Today is @paulmison.bsky.social ‘s birthday, so I drew him a birthday wish from our cat. #Cats #art #PenAndInk

a light brown pit bull wearing a maroon shirt sits with her ears pinned back and looks up in our direction. a hand is holding a chewed up certificate in the foreground. the signed certificate is for completion of basic obedience, and it's filled out to Maya la Pitbull. in her obedience class she was taught not to eat homework, but no one said anything about diplomas.
This is Maya. She just graduated from obedience training. May have gotten a little carried away while celebrating. 12/10 (IG: mayalapitbull)
An orgy, but it strictly follows Robert's Rules of Order
Your annual reminder that the USA is the only country where everyone has to manually file taxes every year. Every other country just deducts what you owe and doesn't bug you about it. The only reason it works this way is because Intuit lobbies to keep it this way.
I need to see this painting in person. Holy shit.
ilyra repin, watercolor painting, the 1899 pistol duel between Eugene Onegin and Vladimir Lensky that takes part in Eugene Onegin, A Novel in Verse, by Alexander Pushkin
just found out this is watercolor and spent like a good five minutes pissed off
There are so many issues they help with that aren’t the charismatic ADHD symptoms. Mine help with skin picking cuz it turns out I do it when I’m stressed and under stimulated. When I can self regulate the emotions, the behavior just drops away. (I still fidget but it’s harmless)
I read it as “paint” and turns out that’s what the artist intended. Anyway, love the vertical stripe of landscape approach. It makes me want to try that
Every airport security line has totally different rules about laptops, coats and shoes and every airport security person acts like you're a moron for not knowing their obvious, simple rules.
That’s fascinating and that’s exactly the Polish/Welsh feeling. Both languages default to putting the accent on the penultimate syllable of the word and it creates a kind of even, almost repetitive speaking rhythm. Also a lot of sibilants. It’s the energy of it.
I think it’s amazing humans have so many languages and I think it is one of our greatest treasures as a species.
I feel weirdest when I hear a Slavic language and I can’t tell which one it is! The odd sensation of understanding somewhat but not knowing what language! Maybe other language groups experience this, too.
German feels very pretty and tidy to me. I took 5 years of German so I can understand it somewhat still. Spanish is warm. French is like a nice brush. Japanese is dignified except when it’s very silly. Esperanto makes me feel even more disoriented than Welsh.
Welsh somehow has the same rhythm as spoken Polish so I’m subconsciously convinced I should understand it until I figure out it’s Welsh. A weird linguistic sensation but oddly pleasant.
TBF I actually can’t think of a language that doesn’t sound beautiful to me. Some sound more poetic than others though. Irish and Russian top my list of poetic sounding. Welsh doesn’t hit my ear as poetic even though I love the sound and know it has an amazing active poetry tradition.
Also to my ears, the Russian language sounds inherently poetic and beautiful. Like the effect I think French has on American English users.
My Russian is vestigial and mostly Polish cognates so the lyrics don’t distract me the way Polish bards of bitterness would.
I’m listening to Vladimir Vysotsky (Владимир Высоцкий) to cheer myself up about various fucked up things that are happening in the world, though maybe it’s less cheer and more like strengthen in sympathetic feelings of spite. It does feel better.
HE SAID IT OUT LOUD HE SAID IT OUT LOUD
Good luck. (I realized one angry morning that my extreme emotional reaction to an uncomfortable seat was probably an ADHD symptom and then it clicked that having a predictable place to sit was well within the bounds of reasonable accommodation. )
Do you have assigned seats? If not, you might be able to get one as an accommodation. I got that as an accommodation at work after trying to first lobby for it for everyone and failing.
