I also discuss in this podcast episode the delight of seeing in the same TV show 3 of my TV heroes growing up in the 70s - Peter Purves from Blue Peter, Brian Cant from Play School, Play Away, Trumpton & Camberwick Green and Nicholas Courtney, the Brigadier in Pertwee era Doctor Who.

In this clip @richardjsmith.bsky.social & @mrpaulmorris.bsky.social discuss the excitement of seeing moving footage and the shock factor of Peter Purves' nipple appearing during the opening segment of previously missing #DoctorWho episode The Nightmare Begins

Lovely to wrap up an amazing few weeks for us classic #doctorwho nerds in the company of my fellow @somethingwho.bsky.social podcasters, discussing the wonderful new recoveries from @filmisfabulous.bsky.social
It's hard to know what was intended as Galt made all sorts of glass products, windows obviously but all sorts. The thing they were best known for, though, I think was corrugated/ribbed glass, much prized by grandmothers for door windows and memorably featured in Spearhead from Space.
Hi Jonny. I had a set of these translucent plastic construction pieces in the 1970s, but there seems to be a suggestion that they might date to the 60s. I wonder if this is the Galt Glass mentioned in The Traitors? The cylindrical pieces have vertical slots that connect with the square pieces.
I caught up with this today.
Very good and very funny.
Here's a companion piece to episode 125 of @somethingwho.bsky.social when we watched the recons of these episodes. Now hear what we thought of watching the programmes themselves.
Just imagine. 2 previously lost episodes from one of the great classics of the #DoctorWho canon returned. Join @themindrobber.bsky.social, @gswrites.bsky.social, @mrpaulmorris.bsky.social & @richardjsmith.bsky.social for our thoughts on The Nightmare Begins.

Yes, that's great
I've realised since watching #DoctorWho DMP 1&3 that although I've had high expectations for the story, it's generally been based on the opinions of others, rather than something I felt viscerally. Since being blown away by these two returns, however, it's something I now understand for myself.
Of course, even on a morning like this there's a part of me that says "shame they chose a picture from Devil's Planet to illustrate The Nightmare Begins!" Wouldn't be a Doctor Who fan otherwise.
Guilty as charged
Watching The Nightmare Begins and Devil's Planet reminded me of the first time I watched missing episode returns - Evil 2 at Panopticon in 1987. Nearly 40 years ago, but still fresh in the mind. Watched a lot of classic Doctor Who for the first time since then, but a missing return is always special
Well, The Nightmare Begins was excellent, Day of Armageddon now has context and Devil's Planet was a real treat. Thank you @filmisfabulous.bsky.social. Hope everyone has fun at the screening tomorrow.
In this clip from Something Who, @themindrobber.bsky.social, @gswrites.bsky.social, @mrpaulmorris.bsky.social and @richardjsmith.bsky.social discuss missing #DoctorWho episode 1 of Fury from the Deep, how much we'd like to see it back and what's in it.

At about an hour's editing for every 10 minutes of content I don't even want to think about how much of my life I've invested in this.
We just published the 150th episode of Something Who on @podbean.bsky.social. Naturally things have got a bit complicated, so it's actually numbered 127. But Podbean has been keeping count, so there must have been 149 others.

It's easy to mock, but photos show that they made a decent job of making a giant crab. Arguably realised more successfully than a similar creature 20 years later in Paradise Towers.
In this clip we're discussing missing episode 2 of #DoctorWho The Macra Terror. @themindrobber.bsky.social defends model maker Shawcraft's reputation as @mrpaulmorris.bsky.social, @gswrites.bsky.social and @richardjsmith.bsky.social chip in.

A fun chat that eventually gets to Macra Terror ep2, which we all enjoyed, in whatever form we consumed it. Be great to have some moving pictures though.
Join @themindrobber.bsky.social, @gswrites.bsky.social, @mrpaulmorris.bsky.social & @richardjsmith.bsky.social for a (belated) St Patrick's Day chat about #DoctorWho missing episode The Macra Terror ep2. In which Gav defends the work of 1960s props builders.

Our "quick" discussion lasted at least two and a half hours. So that's something for you to look forward to.
Thought this would be a 1-day wonder, but for the 4th day in a row we're clinging to the upper echelons of Apple Podcasts' UK TV Reviews charts by our fingernails. Many thanks to those who've been enjoying our DMP episode. We recorded a "quick" discussion about 2 more missing episodes last night.
Featuring fandom's favourite Dalek expert, a beloved Big Finish writer, one of the foremost authors of science and astronomy books and some bloke who comes from Yorkshire.
Thanks again. Your support of our podcast is really appreciated.
Standing on the shoulders of giants! For one day only we appear to be the highest charting #DoctorWho podcast in the UK. Thanks so much for listening to @themindrobber.bsky.social @mrpaulmorris.bsky.social @gswrites.bsky.social & @richardjsmith.bsky.social
