Good vs. Ice
Good vs. Ice YouTube video by Jesse Welles

Jesse Welles on Renee Good's death at the hands of ICE.

Now they'll circle the wagons,
drape the man in a flag,
and say, "Don't trust what your eyes can see."
They'll say, "It's her fault instead
for getting shot in the head
when we all watch the same damn thing.

We are losing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which has helped educate, inform, and entertain millions of Americans.

Instead, we’re getting a vulgar new gold ballroom, which none of us will ever see.

In rural Appalachia, drivers can save money with EVs. Tennessee researchers want to speed the transition. Rural residents might stand to benefit more than their urban counterparts by switching to electric vehicles.

Rural communities in Appalachia have struggled to transition to clean transportation. But WPLN's @carolineeggers.bsky.social reports rural residents might stand to benefit more than their urban counterparts by switching to electric vehicles.

On April 26, 1907 Carrie Nation came to Grafton, WV, swinging. After scolding a hotel owner for smoking ("smoke away what little brains you have"), she rallied the crowd against alcohol, sold souvenir hatchets and her autobiography, then caught a train to D.C.  #Appalachia #History #Prohibition

To Democrats In Office: America Is In Grave Danger. Fight like It! Give up on the idea that this will be easy or that there is a simple solution. It is the cumulative weight and fury of outrage that turns the tide.

My plea to Democrats:

"This isn't a battle of your choosing. But it is the battle for which you will always be judged. This is the moment you must show the world and history which side of the Edmund Pettis Bridge you are standing on."

Bill Eads, editor of the Wise County News, was a quirky humorist, political voice, & one-man news machine. His paper thrived, but his business didn’t, and after a failed run as the mayor of Norton, VA, he faded into history, passing away in Marion. #Appalachia

Feb. 18, 1969: WV miners walked out for black lung compensation. Their wildcat strike grew to 40,000 workers—and they won. WV passed a law, and national pressure led to new federal mine safety protections.

A powerful lesson: collective action works. #Appalachia #coal #WestVirginia

From @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social. "If you’re always consumed by the next outrage, you can’t look closely at the last one. The impression of Trump’s power remains; the fact that he keeps stepping on rakes is missed. The projection of strength obscures the reality of weakness. Don’t believe him."
