I’m from a poor family and went to grammar school. I didn’t go to university but worked my way up to a senior role in finance. I think it gave me confidence. My sons went to Dr Challoners, no tuition, and then went on to Oxford University. It’s so hard as everyone wants what they think is the best

Last year I was so excited by the duck and her ducklings in the beck behind my house. I was out regularly inspecting them. One day, after a summer storm, only the mum was there calling and calling. She continued for days. 🥲 let’s hope yours turn up soon

Fake tax refunds: Welcome Accountancy exposed A UK tax tribunal exposes Welcome Accountancy’s false expense claims and fake refunds - part of a wider surge in rogue “tax refund factory” firms.

And here’s our report. Please don’t read it, share it, or repost it. The legal risk is, quite literally, incalculable.

Our park is full of such benches but I find them depressing. Maybe because I’m getting old but I want to walk in the open air and not in a mausoleum

The Richard Tice tax avoidance thing relies on a legal loophole where he spent three year “looking for outside investors” for his property firm, then declared he couldn’t find any. So the defence is… my successful profitable property investment biz was a bit crap?

Both of my boys went to Dr Challoners Grammar School in Buckinghamshire. They were both from a state school however we had moved from London deliberately for the schools. It’s so difficult as most parents want to do the best for their children

Life imitates art.

29 years ago, Wag the Dog told the story of a US president mired in sex scandal that threatened to undermine his presidency so he decided he needed to concoct a make-believe war to boost his support.
