Fripp for me - is as important as Dylan, Neil, Lou, Van etc - yet, is so different than the rest as he’s not a singer/songwriter. His brand of prog has feeling, emotion often devoid from his fellow progressive peers. Rarely has a Fripp project left me cold.

Yesterday was Holger Czukay's birthday- without him there would be no Six Degrees Records. Czukay's album, Movies (specifically the track "Persian Love") was the first time I encountered the concept of incorporating global music samples into electronic compositions.

Not familiar with it- but interested to check it out.

Maybe they are thinking of something by either KMRU, Ibukun Sunday, or perhaps even some of the ambient field recordings from the Sahel Sound label.
