YES, this also falls under my definition. So much, in fact, that it is a major point in my fic's "romance" subplot.

Exactly! When you're aro, you know on some level that you don't experience certain relationships the way others do, but when you actually try to UNDERSTAND it, it makes you feel dumb or crazy. It feels like trying to pin a sheet of water to the wall.

It's like saying "you don't ACTUALLY love this show, you're just hyperfocused on it."

Ok, one: I'm hyperfocused BECAUSE I love the show. Two: I'm autistic, and I get excited about things I enjoy.

Seems reasonable that extends to people too. But that's a "bad thing" and "not real love." 😵‍💫

I'm also on the autism spectrum, so if I know there are "categories" of something, then I need those categories to be well defined. 😄 I'm willing to accept I only experienced limerance but only if I can rule out love. Without a clear definition, it just feels like a way for allos to gaslight us.

I'm actually interested! I have "fallen in love" once and it had a different feel than just friendship. Recently I was told I've never experienced "real love" only limerance. When I ask what love is they just defined friendship (imo) which seems disingenuous based on what society implies love is.

-Give them grace when they aren't perfect: not love
-Self esteem boost when they like you back: not love

Love: a pleasant, supportive connection (how is this not friendship?)
