A small cosmetic jar in a long bulb shape. The body is a shade of turquoise blue with black detailing and neck.
This small blue perfume flask from Jericho, in ancient Canaan, dates back to 1650–1550 BCE.
Cosmetics and toiletries were highly valued in many ancient societies, with both men and women wearing eye make-up and using perfume, and even using various forms of hair dye.
One week left before submissions close. Tell us about the fields set to fire, of the fires put out, of the smoldering in your chest. What time does. What life does.
Try to only panic about one thing at a time.

A split bar chart of YouGov polling data with the headline: "Americans are most likely to say T. Rex is their favorite dinosaur, but many don't have a favorite." The chart has the sub-headline: "Which of the following is your favorite dinosaur? (%)." The chart has the note: "Note: "Other" includes responses of archaeopteryx, spinosaurus, plesiosaur, ankylosaurus, allosaurus, parasaurolophus, dilophosaurus, diplodocus, iguanadon, and pachycephalosaurus, as well as responses of "other." We know pterodactyls and plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs. Opinion about dinosaurs comes from the question, "How much do you like or dislike dinosaurs?""
A shocking new poll result: Many Americans somehow don't have a favorite dinosaur.
And only 6% give the correct answer (triceratops).

Thank you, Suzy!
I'll be reading at this tonight!
Somewhere along the line, I decided I wrote either novels or micros, but then I wrote a 2,000 word story that was just accepted. So I guess, don't put yourself in a writing box
Stone relief of a gladiator, standing within a rectangular niche. He’s holding a shield, a sword and is wearing a helmet. A inscription in Greek letters (reading Peneleos) is carved along the top edge of the stone.
A Roman gladiator frozen in his final fight: this funerary relief shows Peneleos, a heavily armed murmillo, who won eleven fights in the arena - and seems to have died in his twelfth.
Dating 3rd century AD and found in Türkiye.
From the collection of Antikensammlung Basel.

Excerpt from Guardian article about outcome of 2024 U.S. Presidential election. "White women still voting for the Republican candidate." Although women as a whole have historically voted for Democrats, white women have not. Instead, over the last 72 years, a plurality of white women have voted for the Democratic candidate only twice, in 1964 and 1996.

Yellowed paper with text, the title page of a speech delivered by Mildred Lewis Rutherford, Historian General of the United Daughters of the Confederacy" titled "Wrongs of History Righted" which was included in the Congressional Record in 1916.
Got excited when I found the first instance of a woman appearing in the Congressional Record, in 1916.
Until I realized that she was a white supremacist and the speech was about the value of slavery.
I was about to recommend this, too. The dialogue is fascinating! I find myself repeating it the day after watching
