Two nights ago, Russia sent nearly 700 drones and dozens of missiles at Ukrainian civilians. In the fifth year of the war, aerial attacks on Ukrainian civilians have become even more intense and more frequent. Please join me in this campaign for air defense equipment. You can help protect lives.
This is a Ukrainian boy, Bohdan. He will forever be eight years old.
Yesterday, a Russian drone killed Bohdan as he was playing on a playground in Cherkasy.
Bohdan sang in the church choir.
Deepest condolences...
Russian terrorism must be stopped.
I wonder whether we will see an uptick in EV and heat pump sales also in the US. This would take a long time to feed through to the instantaneous energy use, but once the investment is made, the reduction is permanent. So, the crisis could change the direction of travel.
Some thoughts about the President of the United States speaking about ending a civilization. The president speaks genocide. Anyone who has been involved in that conversation or associated actions would be complicit. And so we too must speak. Not only about crimes, but about their legal punishment.
What a great way to make money ...
if you know what is coming.
Unfortunately, for us who do not, we loose. This is on the back of our retirement accounts, which are invested in some index fund.

Countries from Austria to Zambia drop their fuel taxes to reduce the price paid by households. Below figure from Econ textbook shows that when supply is inelastic, price faced by consumer is not influenced by taxes. www.economicsdiscussion.net/commodity/ef...
Hahahaha. 🇳🇴 dropped its fuel taxes by Kr 4.4 on petrol and 2.8 on diesel. Here you can see what happened to prices at midnight: they went up!
This is ironic, but through this crisis, we should not expect anything else.
Time to scrutinise populism’s ‘supply side’
@liambyrnemp.bsky.social points to ways in which financier profit from the volatility that populists generate and thus finance distribution. We all need to fight this. Gift article.
I am glad that the @europeandemocrats.bsky.social are reading the @falter.at
In its new report, @esabcc.bsky.social outlines 6 recommendations to climate-proof the EU agri-food system. These actions can facilitate a gradual transition across production, land use and consumption patterns that is fair and supports farmers and rural communities.

Current energy networks are insufficient for the shift of transport, heating, and industry to renewable electricity. Stop building gas infrastructure, build electricity transmission and distribution. 4/4 climate-advisory-board.europa.eu/reports-and-...
Time to stop the reversal of previous energy and climate policy, and to vigorously pursue those EU policies and targets that have been designed but not yet implemented. 3/ climate-advisory-board.europa.eu/reports-and-...
Save energy immediately through behavior change such as shorter showers, heating only occupied rooms, and taking public transport.
Invest in renewables, transmission lines, heat pumps, energy storage, insulation. 2/

Time for Europe to realize energy independence. giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/... IEA calls for driving slower and flying less to weather energy crisis 1/
Ich verstehe dass man das aufgrund der öffentlichen Diskussion macht. Es hilft jedoch nicht, den Energieengpass zu vermindern. Daher wird dadurch der Ölpreis steigen und arme Länder werden weniger konsumieren.
The US is attacking Iran. Russia is helping Iran target US forces. For all we know Russia is co-responsible for the deaths of US soldiers. And yet Trump has made Russia the main winner of the war thus far by lifting oil sanctions. I can’t think of anything like this.

A new report by the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change warns current policies are insufficient to address rising climate risks to the EU agri-food system & meet climate targets.

@edgarhertwich.bsky.social @joerirogelj.bsky.social @esabcc.bsky.social
The report emphasizes that achieving climate neutrality while safeguarding food security will require a systemic transition away from livestock products across the entire agri-food system, supported by stronger policy incentives and targeted support for farmers. 8/8
The Board recommends ending coupled payments to livestock production and decoupled payments for peatland areas. This money can be used to support adaptation and structural change, including the move towards plant-based products. 7/
The ongoing revision of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) presents an opportunity to align agricultural policy with climate goals.
Today, the CAP subsidizes the most greenhouse-gas intensive practices, incl. cattle farming and the draining of peatlands. It thus undermines EU climate goals.

Agriculture is very dependent on oil to power machinery and gas to produce nitrogen fertilizer. Rising oil prices mean rising food production costs. Cutting this fossil fuel dependency has benefits beyond climate change. 5/
Mitigating greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture will also require significant changes, including reducing fossil fuel use in machinery and fertilizer production and lowering methane and nitrous oxide emissions from livestock and fertilizers. Peatland needs to be protected. 4/
Adapting to climate change will require adjustments in planting patterns, pest control, irrigation, and water management, as well as avoiding farming in flood- and landslide-prone areas. In some regions agriculture may become increasingly difficult, and adaptation has to reflect local conditions. 3/
Food production is increasingly exposed to droughts, floods, heatwaves, and disease outbreaks. Climate-related agricultural losses already amount to tens of billions of euros annually and are expected to rise significantly as Europe continues to warm faster than many other regions.
2/
The EU agri-food system is increasingly threatened by climate change while accounting for roughly one-third of the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions. Current policies are insufficient to address rising climate risks and meet EU climate targets, according to EU climate advisors @esabcc.bsky.social.

Who will hold Israel accountable?
These school classes are part of a big social experiment. I very much look forward to the research finding!
Cool stuff. This is how social science should be done. And we should not engage in social experiments like locking up our kids with addictive devices, without having a control group. 2/2
