Question for MAGA: If your definition of "America" allows you to praise Columbus for discovering it, why does it not allow you to accept Puerto Rico as part of it?

Okay, I'm seriously jealous.
Also, I want to see Rose.
I wish I were still teaching a unit on the rhetoric of music. I may want to drop something I have and replace it with that.
When I did teach it, and we went over old protest songs, students often asked why we don't have music like that now.

I would.
i hope people understand now why kamala’s loss was devastating to so many people, this country is in an awful state
So glad you filled me in on it, and I don't have to learn anything about it, myself.
Teachers have a major role here. I teach courses in argumentation. That includes Rogerian approaches, in which speakers or writers explain another side's view before giving their own. If they can't explain it well enough for classmates with that view to accept it, they don't get credit for it.

The connection with the exercises did not occur to me before you mention it (or for a few seconds after you mentioned it, actually).
Is there a story behind your choice to go by Cagle? I've been wondering that for some time now.
Sounds like such an exciting time! And I'm really looking forward to seeing the result.
Nice! I used to make that book a pretty big part of my Composition II class at the University of Central Florida.
The alt text adds so much to that image.
Do you know how they found out about it? Is the book something you mentioned in class or assigned a reading from?
"If a visual is just decorative, no need to provide alt text." That's a line from a composition textbook. What do you think? Is it justified?
No. He's compared vaccines to the Holocaust ffs. His whole "MAHA" line is largely blaming people for their health issues while also taking away drugs like antidepressants (hey, just exercise!). Why talk mostly to other grifters for this story??
We have to remember that, traditionally, an incoming administration awards the various constituencies that got it elected with some sort of representation.
So the tech bros get Elon, anti-vax freaks get RFK Jr, dog killers get Noem, white nationalists get Hegseth, pedophiles get Gaetz...
I last had an egg on February 26, 2020. I had no idea what they were going for until last week.
Apparently, the going rate is this country's democracy.

This is why you should never get a chow chow. They can hide the evidence too easily.
I actually find the distinction useful.
Twitter was a good site. X isn't.
I've always loved dramatic weather--thunderstorms, blizzards. I've never thought of wind by itself as qualifying. But standing in my kitchen, looking out the window, and watching the wind whip the trees around in my front yard, I realize I need to add it to the list.
It's sort of mesmerizing.
It's also interesting given that FYC classes, taught well, guide students in the kinds of thinking and writing they'll need to succeed in their future courses--including literature.
They're a critical part of a university education. If you teach them, so are you.
Wonderful book. Highly recommended if you're disabled or live in a world with people who are, especially if you're in academia.
It is.
The shadow knows.
Yes, absolutely!
No, it's not too much. It's exactly right. It's what should be.
And I think I am indeed about as well as possible. I appreciate that.
Image shows a black-and-white cat staring into the camera. She's sitting on a draft of a PhD dissertation in a binder, keeping me from working on it. A pencil and a can of Diet Pepsi are on the table next to it.
