The Iranian leadership has played its hand skillfully from the very start. They correctly judged—or quickly learned—that: Trump could be manipulated by Israel into war. They could absorb whatever punishment the Americans and Israelis dished out. They had mastered the technology required to close the Strait of Hormuz. Trump would not have the will or political support necessary to continue the war. Trump would be willing to bribe them to end his war. Therefore they would end the war in a significantly enhanced strategic position. The Iranians have been right on the strategy at every step of this conflict.
