Man, lost an hour debugging Flask suddenly losing the ability to use its request object.
Important safety tip, when you're pulling in code from a sample that's using a typical request/response paradigm... `request = foo` will indeed, kill Flask.
*sigh*
At least I figured it out before midnight?

Hi friends, I'm hiring! If I know anyone, or you know anyone that's looking to do some developer relations and has some experience in data science or data engineering, lemme know!

I feel like I want an online setting (for any chat app really, but I'm specifically thinking about #Steam):
"Appear offline except to this group"
Basically, I want to be able to look invisible for almost everyone, but a select group of folks I'm okay if they see my status...
I'm holding you accountable Gus if this is a terrible game... :D
Rose Nylund (Betty White's character from Golden Girls). She'd beat the One Ring with pure befuddlement. It would be amazing.
Nothing better than reading code and being like “who wrote this crap”, running blame on it and seeing your own name pop up…
I assume we’re counting “wtf does this code do” in the debugging category.
In fairness, a documentary on your OSS project would ALSO be pretty awesome.
Gotta be SOMETHING that balances out all the paperwork. :)
Yup, it's one of my favorite parts about being a manager. Watching someone early in their career take on a big project and then nail it is just...priceless.
2) I don't think we have anything specifically around this, but UDFs can just call a Cloud Function, so you can call the Secrets Manager APIs from Cloud Functions easily to fetch the salting, etc. I don't think we have any samples that do this, but I can ask around.

1) I don't think we've done a specific white paper on it for BigQuery per se, but there's lots of good stuff out there on salting generally. Then BQ has some functions to help: cloud.google.com/bigquery/doc...

The new kitty has decided he wants to be a #Christmas ornament. Normally wouldn't care, but we have integrated LED lights that he wanted to be chewing on...
Fondue cafe!?
Pondering how to justify the travel expense now….
Finally couldn't avoid a #Windows11 update. Removed being able to move the Taskbar? That's...awful. Either I now have a taskbar floatin around at the bottom of my game, or I hide it, and I accidentally touch the bottom of the screen and up it pops... or... win+shift+<- every time. Not awesome.
“Weather in London” !! Sorry, unhelpful.
*wavewavewave* :D
Yup, I heard the same. Shorter fight, but was mostly uneventful. Seemed like they were just milking it.
I didn’t watch it, but I did ask some friends about it that did. :)
Awesome! Nice to connect here as well. I'm a good go-to if you have feedback on BQ in particular. :)
Indeed! This is a good one.
This is a sign that that platform has arrived right? Right?
Waaaaaah?!
Living the dream!!
Okay friends. Lay it on me. Who on here are the awesome data folks? Databases, analytics, data science and engineering. Who should I be following?
Truth! I thought it night be that, and indeed I’m currently looking to see if the alerts I track for certain systems (like the ferry) do the same here so I can drop the other entirely.
Did something happen to Bluesky to make it easier to find people? I’ve been getting a rash of followers here. Or are people just that fed up with X now?
Noodling on ideas of how to solve the deep fake issue in light of the elections coming up in the USA and the very real risk they pose to our Democracy...
Also gets better on re-watching. Now that it's streaming I watched it again and realized how much there is in there. Totally missed a bunch on first go in the theater.
Also, if you have HBO streaming, they have it with ASL interpretation. I watched it with it on just to signal to HBO that's good.
