Our banner is multi textured and has a 3D globe to make the O for ENOUGH, lots of blue, silver and pink lamé, numerous sequins and so much more- working with materials I sourced from Affordable Textiles, a BIPOC/Caribbean run store in downtown toronto,2/

Some shots here from an artist talk I gave about Shadd and the work in February this year.

This mural celebrates Shadd’s life and legacy in toronto. You can visit this work at 25 Ontario Street in downtown Toronto!
Thank you to @shannonlinde and the team at EQ for supporting this acquisition and installation!

In this mural I have drawn Shadd in repetition, along with drawings of plants that would have been growing along her route to the office in the 1850s: Lucerne Blue-Eyed Grass and Butterfly Weed.

The paper’s introduction read “The Provincial Freeman will be devoted to the elevation of the Colored People… For like reasons, the Freeman must be a straightforward, out outspoken ANTI-SLAVERY PAPER.” – The Provincial Freeman (24 March 1853)”.

I am thrilled to announce the unveiling of a new wallwork/ Activist Wallpaer that I created of Mary Ann Shadd Cary for EQ Bank’s new offices on Ontario street at King, just around the corner from this historic location of Shadd’s toronto office, where she ran The Provincial Freeman. 1/

So they chatted amongst themselves and then did go to get her and the trans person did my scan. She was so gentle and kind and respectful . I’d rather no borders (no borders! no bosses! No landlords! As the grafitti says!)

I had seen a trans femme working earlier in security section, when does this ever happen? So I said, I’d like a trans person to do the scan. I’m a trans person and if I get to pick I’d like to request another trans person do this intimate scan.

We can’t wait to come back (hopefully in the summer lol!). Although @bearbergman, my dear friend/neighbour fr toronto who now living here, sounded like absolute prairie-based artist talmbout « really, as long as it’s -20 c and above it’s not bad. Just once it dips below -20 it REALLY feels cold »

Got to hold our book for the first time today! The cover is art by @rahbush7604 and it’s so gorgeous. So thankful! It’s amazing to see these chapters and this book in real life! What a journey it is to make a book- there’s so much behind the scenes. So happy to be launching in Regina this week!

Kansas Sends Letters To Trans People Demanding The Immediate Surrender Of Drivers Licenses "The legislature did not include a grace period."

It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow

It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker

This was never about woman's sports

On Meta. And no stress- this happens a lot when I’m on the air. AntiBlackness runs so deep here, as does transphobia.

I was called an N-word lady on video about the BAFTAS that I did w/ Commotion. They’ve deleted the worst comments, but there’s still one up, will deleted soon calling me transphobic slurs, a “thing” and other violence. Likely bots but hateful people too. How sad for them that this is their life.

Today on the show, @syrusmarcus tells @elamin about what we can learn from this incident, and all the questions it’s raised around how we navigate race and disability in public spaces.

The biggest story coming out of this year’s # #BAFTA awards wasn’t about a winner, but about the editing of the broadcast itself.

There’s been a lot of discussion online about the #BBC’s decision to broadcast the moment
