On my way to Kensington Hall, London to attend #CityJS.
Really pumped for the talks, especially the one by @rich-harris.dev

Nice! I use squoosh right now.
Some rare file extensions there. Never heard of images having literally .ycbcr or .yuv extension before.
The video section looks to be missing some mainstream extensions like .h265/.hevc.
The audio section could add .mka, which is the audio equivalent of .mkv.
It's 20°C in the UK today ☀️🌅
Supposedly the warmest it will be for a while.
Too bad it's a weekday and you can't go out to enjoy the warmth until after 6.
Reactionary responses devoid of any nuance are pretty much a norm on big social media platforms these days. It's an unavoidable side effect of the democratization of the proverbial megaphone.
Game result with a leaderboard.
Did you play it recently? I just played it and got the leaderboard at the end of the game.
What's My JND? 0.0035 (Hard Mode)
Can you beat it? www.keithcirkel.co.uk/whats-my-jnd...
It's a whole series, not one model. I bought a used one from ebay for £200, which I thought was quite decent.
Close your curtains before attempting!

I have a pretty good Dell Ultrasharp monitor, which surely helped with it.
Prolly goat herding in the countryside.
Pretty good piece of journalism. Interesting how the 2003 Iraq ghosts reduced the Americans' and Brits' credibility this time around.
But while reading the story, I wondered several times whether Russia's mind (to invade) was made up at any one instance, or did they go back and forth.
Oh damn, this looks cool. I've built a couple of docs sites with mkdocs-material before. Had no idea they had built a new tool with a more modern stack.
This is pretty cool, especially the "Open Source Contributions" section with the number of PRs and commits.
More to the topic, it's been an eye-opener for me — since X added the feature to see the country where an account is based — that a lot of the accounts bashing Britain are in fact operating from within the country.
But such random discussions in a pub typically don't last beyond that day.
On the other hand, online platforms give persistence to such 'discussions' or trolling. And I use the term 'persistence' here in the context of computing.
Maybe I'm cynical, but it seems to me that spreading unfounded views about the world, disconnected from nuance, is inevitable with large platforms. In the past, it would be common to hear such random views in a pub or a public gathering.
📉 Some really cool news graphics here.
And most (all?) of them are made with Svelte.
I also think it is imperative that if you consume news, that you actually go to news websites and read entire articles. Too many people complain about the news media but they never actually read news articles properly and see how much excellent reporting still gets done everyday.
reddit used to be majority of my social media consumption till about 6 months ago. It's become a tremendously toxic place now. I didn't realize how much it was affecting my mental well-being.
I still use it, but I've reduced my time on it by 90% now.
I use a combination of social media. IG for real-life friends, Bluesky & Discord for tech, reddit for catch-all topics. And LinkedIn a little bit.
I've been putting together bits of knowledge from various tutorials and repos. About Minimal API, VSA, NSubstitute, HttpClient, etc.
It also made me appreciate how much better structured tutorials like Svelte's or React's are in progressively teaching you the plumbing.
I've been laying the foundations for a personal application project. Using ASP.NET Core for the backend with Vertical Slice Architecture.
Gotta say, I understand why they say you need to actually build stuff to get experience. Creating the scaffolding that underpins your app is quite monotonous.
a black Thinkpad laptop with several stickers
You get to take home really cool merch too 😊. Still rocking two of the stickers from last year on my Thinkpad.
Extremely grateful to @londonwebstandards.org and its organizer @letorey.co.uk for awarding me one of their limited diversity tickets for this fantastic event.
Their speaker lineup for this year is available at 2026.stateofthebrowser.com/speakers/.
2. Doing the same search as above for "UI Library" with JS disabled goes to sveltesociety.dev?tags=ui+libr... instead of sveltesociety.dev?tags=ui-libr...

1. Searching doesn't actually show the results initially for me. I have to refresh: ibb.co/vvgJGXYL. Seen in both Firefox and Chrome.
The godforsaken cookie banners on every site.
Also, lots of websites could use leaner mobile versions.
I boiled up some Gatorade because apparently SOME LIKE IT HOT.
The green symbols look like diamonds. So my guess is Blood Diamond.
Clearly, the solution is for GitHub to have a character limit
à la Bluesky.
But on a more serious note, this is why usage of gen AI incurring some significant cost will be eventually needed. So that people are more judicious and selective when using it.
