And personally I think games should be more specific and disregard mass appeal for the sake of doing something well

And there’s a huge difference between that and a bad game - if Tomodachi Life had shipped barely functional, marred with system crashes and not working as intended, I would be inclined to call it a bad game, but that simply isn’t what’s happening here - it’s just not for everyone.
This is the problem I have with a lot of modern gaming discourse, especially within the Nintendo community - a lot of the games people say are “bad” are actually perfectly serviceable, enjoyable and shipped as functional complete titles - they just don’t have what some people are looking for
But I really don’t like the sentiment of “well I’m not enjoying it so I hope they update the game to make it what I want it to be”. I think it’s healthier to accept that the game just isn’t what you want instead of acting like developers owe you a game that perfectly suits your specific desires
I can understand some people wanting “Tomodachi Life 3DS, but again” but I do think the devs are allowed to experiment with the format and do something new - living the dream offers much more in depth life and personality simulation than 3ds did and that’s clearly the main focus here
I don’t think I want a world where every sequel retains every feature from a previous title and only adds stuff - a lot of the things that are “missing” from living the dream are replaced by different features that cover a lot of the same ground, to keep everything would result in redundancy
I see a lot of people talking about how they find living the dream to be disappointing because it’s not just Tomodachi life 3DS again
We need to start treating different games like they are different games

That being said, I get a lot of mileage out of my generic white label capture card for docked mode but if you’re looking for a serious investment the Elgato Neo provides a lot more flexibility for your setup - I’ve had the opportunity to check it out and it’s real nice.
Yeah unfortunately handheld mode video capture isn’t currently possible - someone used to do hardware mods for it but they went out of business awhile ago and nobody seems to have taken up the mantle since
My cat Pippin, who will be 2 years old in August, has taken to baptising his mouse toys in his water bowl and then licking them
He does this multiple times a day
I love him so much
People tend to see majoras mask as an afterthought to ocarina of time rather than a complement, it is my opinion that the writers for oot had some idea of what they wanted to do for majoras mask whilst oot was in development because the games are a lot more cohesive than people make them out to be
After all - oot’s ending is kind of bittersweet, no? It never read to me as a particularly “happy” ending, even if you ignore the psychological implications of Link’s time travel - I think it serves as a perfect transition into majoras mask.
it is only after the decision to send Link back in time to his childhood that both Link and Zelda reach the end of their coming of age story, and thus they have to deal with the consequences of what is essentially a final outburst of childlike innocence
In real life, we don’t know the consequences of the actions we take when we take them, sometimes we don’t know the consequences until years later - this is as much of a part of growing up as the other themes of oot
I’ve seen people talk about majoras mask and twilight princess “retconning” ocarina of time’s ending to be a bad one but I disagree - I think the writers recognised the implications but wrote it in the way that they did because there’s no way the characters would have that kind of foresight
It really depends on how much of a people watcher you are and how much you're into Nintendo's specific brand of surrealist humour.
I recommend waiting for a fellow creator to give the full game a bash to see what it's like - the demo doesn't really sell itself to anyone not familiar with the series
Yes! Absolutely - the last NGS Headline really gave me some hope for the trajectory of the game going forward - I'm excited to see what the development team has in store
Love that one of my theories from the closed beta that was based solely on CVs and SEGA's historical casting preferences was proven correct enough to warrant a vague post about it (sorry, I just don't want to post spoilers this early in the week)
Okay so the new PSO2NGS chapter was kind of insane
I really don't care - it is incredibly frustrating and humiliating to be locked out of things like /online game text chat/ because I don't have a /credit card/
Really not cheesed with this new brand of humiliation for disabled people + people on benefits the British Government is cooking up called Treating Them Like Children Online Because They Can't Verify Their Identity With a Credit Card
this game will be my meth

No yeah this is what really annoys me - people will go "Amy's characterisation in the 2000s was the BEST!" when she was just a bag of misogynistic tropes :/
I recognise her current iteration is an improvement but they still cling far too much to her misogynistic character traits for my liking tho
I also think it’s interesting that Grace ends up looking like a completely different woman with defined cheek bones and bigger lips, that is the bigotry inherent to generative AI’s training image bias in action - it has been and always will be our worst traits reflected back at us.
I think the main issue I have with DLSS 5 is that the intended artistic direction is completely lost. It doesn’t enhance anything, it overwrites it with an AI slop filter. The fact that the demo was running in 2 gpus and it’s releasing in 6 months time does not fill me with confidence.
Digital art of Infinite from the Sonic series. He faces the viewer, leaned forward in a bowing pose, as a mass of power and illusion occurs around him. He is omitting a pink-purple aura, different to his previous deep red, however still has 'glitching' effects outlined on him and digitised cubes. Infinite's outline repeats horizontally, as though moving rapidly or duplicating himself towards the Chaotix. A red-purple power swirls around the corners of the image.

I can now say with complete certainty that y’all really did miss the point entirely. It’s a shame that it was going to only be showed in-venue because it contextualises a lot of the decisions made for the rebuild. I am still critical of them, but I do get it now.
But it is NOT about Asushin
