Delighted to have been able to give a talk to SAS Psychiatrists at RCPsych International Congress. Sharing my story, thinking about exclusion, discrimination, determination and alternative career pathways. @rcpsych.bsky.social @sascollective.com

Fantastic news. The medical students coming through Lincoln medical school are indeed a very lucky bunch to have some inspirational SAS doctors shaping their training.

Life is not linear.
There is always more than one path (surely you've seen @robjimfleming.bsky.social pathway presentation! 😉)
In the words of Waldo Emerson: "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

Would be great to see some of the wonderful work being done by amazing SAS colleagues being highlighted and celebrated. 🤩
Unfortunatley I wasn't around for SAS week last year, but planning big things for 2025! 😁

Love this! A much better description of my current general state. My new standard answer to "how are you?" "I'm Barkley OK, thanks for asking." 😂

After a brief memorial, laz lit the cigarette at 11:37. The 2025 Barkley Marathons has begun. #BM100

“Rise in people with mental illness being driven by real societal challenges and lack of available treatment” says RCPsych President RCPsych President Dr Lade Smith CBE responds to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care's comments about the overdiagnosis of mental health conditions.

If people cant access appropriate mental health treatment and support in a timely way in stands to reason their mental health will further deteriorate and the severity of their mental illness will increase.

The MRCP exam disaster’s hidden cost for women On 20 February 2025 nearly 300 doctors were told they had been given the wrong results for Part 2 of the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) UK exam which they had taken nearly a year...

When I speak with doctor friends about the MRCP exam disaster, there's a shared reaction: shock, horror, and compassion for affected candidates' private lives, families and pregnancy planning. These are the impacts that aren't discussed in public, so we did in @bmj.com

Late to the party 😴, but finally made it over here! Here for all things Mental Health, and picking up where I left off on SAS Advocate role and SAS doctors' well being. Now, what have I missed? 🤔😂 @clujinmyheart.bsky.social @robjimfleming.bsky.social @sascollective.com

So terribly sad. And as you say the ingredients for a perfect storm. The qualities making a brilliant doctor also make them very vulnerable to burnout and moral injury. Place them in an impossible work environment, in a broken system with no support and eventually they will break. 😔

Our CEO & founder @clairegoodwinfee.bsky.social writes for @publicsectorfocus.bsky.social about the decision to withdraw mandatory staff wellbeing targets in NHSE.

This is a mistake & will put staff at risk of further burnout & mental ill health.

Fantastic to see another trust commiting to the #SASsix and supporting the wellbeing of their SAS doctors.

Very sad. So many good doctors driven to either leaving the NHS or taking their own lives.
