As a related example, growing up, I never considered disgust an emotion. I was in good company, as evidenced by this paper. But kids who grew up with “Inside Out” do consider disgust an emotion. Paul Ekman was an advisor for that movie.

“Emotion” is not a purely folk term. I think we should question the existence of a clear distinction between folk and scientific terms, at least for social sciences. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Effective psychotherapy relies on empathy. How and when can therapists rely on their feelings to empathize with clients? Do the therapist’s feelings mirror the client’s feelings, or are they obstacles to empathy? This article seeks answers through a phenomenological analysis.

I think the reviewer was wrong. The word “experience” has several meanings. One meaning of the word always refers to something subjective. Others don’t (e.g., “She has a lot of experience in the business.”). So, “subjective experience” clarifies which use of “experience” is meant.

Excellent headline by a German satire magazine.
Seems like some reviewers can’t see any value in any manuscript that includes the phrase “basic emotions.”

Este artículo fue inspirado por mi experiencia como hispano en 🇺🇸. Eventualmente comprendí que shame no es vergüenza. Shame es una experiencia para la cual no hay una palabra en español. Este enlace lleva al artículo completo.
Spanish speakers have difficulty understanding the concept of shame. Empirical studies show that there is no precise word for shame in Spanish. This constitutes a case of hypocognition, that is, lacking cognitive or linguistic representations of concepts to describe ideas or explain experiences.
En la literatura psicológica en inglés, es frecuente que se hable de “shame”, normalmente traducida como “vergüenza”. Estudios empíricos muestran que el concepto de vergüenza no es equivalente a shame y no hay una palabra precisa para shame en español. Esto constituye hipocognición.
So many similarities to GOP candidate Nixon dispatching Kissinger to sabotage LBJ's Vietnam talks, initiating a horrendous Cambodian bombing campaign after winning the 1968 election - only to sign essentially the same deal in 1973 that LBJ had put together 5 years earlier.

It's been over 2 years since I submitted a manuscript to @springer.springernature.com journal Psychological Studies. I've sent them many emails. They say they haven't found any reviewers, but over these years I have sent them the names of at least 15 potential reviewers. What can I do?
