You are a right. It is sad, though. Lots of livelihoods in and around Atlanta, that I know personally, are tied up in that industry. Not that Marvel is the only player in town, but they splashed a lot of bank into the state.

I’ve been questioning for years why U.S. employers wouldn’t be thrilled with universal, government-run healthcare. It would spare them from having to cover the overhead of providing it to their employees, and it would make labor costs cheaper.
This seems apropos, @mattgoldberg.bsky.social, of our conversation about Disney’s layoffs.
An Allbirds store
This isn't funny, shoe companies only do this when they're in extreme distress

What!?
I don’t really have anything else to add other than… this definitely proves we’re in the dumbest timeline.
But I’d be fine paying 15-20% as an effective rate if all the billionaires had to do the same thing. But seeing as how that’d be like jump from 3-4% for them (on the high end), they’d probably lose their minds.
Wonder what kind of lobbying shit storm would ensue if somebody just proposed simplifying the tax code to, everybody pays a percentage of the money they got access to for spending purposes. Escalate it a bit based on overall wealth/income. 1/2
Truly remarkable how many people have told the Pope, in some way or another, to "shut up and dribble." Or corrected him on the Bible, despite their thin education on theology. Or told him to stay out of US affairs, despite him being a US citizen. The hubris is amazing.
Sorry to hear that. My wife has fibromyalgia and it’s so hard to get people to understand its impacts, or even get her the right medical care to manage it.
I hope for the best for you and feeling better soon.
Not every service or species or political entity can use little dots, but damn if the Bajoran rank insignias aren’t one of the least user friendly versions I can think of. Hard to distinguish at anything but close up.
At this point, I wonder if I should even feel OK reading newsletters that use Substack?
I don’t want to punish good writers who aren’t savvy or have good reasons for being there, but it doesn’t help weaken a toxic platform if all the eyeballs remain.
What do you think, @chuckwendig.bsky.social?
At this point, should I also feel bad for reading newsletters that use Substack?
I mean… I don’t want to punish a good writer who happens to use the platform, because they’re not savvy about how to leave #Substack, but… I mean? What do you think?
And not just the very final scene. Also the long shot of a certain person, tear running down the face, laying in solitude a bit earlier.
I do wonder if we will see Poole again.
I cried. It was a wonderfully crafted episode. The ending was so well done.
I cried in part because my own father died not that long ago. But as for this diamond of a show, it was also the final piece of that original generation dying off.
a “ceasefire” that lasted 17 hours and killed 254 people in lebanon is not a ceasefire and referring to it as one is inaccurate
Though what is the one ring in our world vis-a-vis social media @juliusgoat.bsky.social? And don’t say it’s Gollum.
What a thread. 10/10. No notes. Highly recommend.
I’m just imagining an army of Kevin McCallisters booby trapping OpenAI and X’s headquarters. Yes! Bring on the Kevins!
Wesley Snipes as Geordi?! Can you imagine? That would NOT have worked out well.
That’s too clever.
Oopsy. Also that looks like a huge, tall set to build just for the one episode. It doesn’t look like a redress of an existing set. Maybe Quark’s holodeck?
I didn’t know you were the same age as me! I turn 46 in August. Gotta love being born in 1980… stuck right between two generations.
I miss the longer seasons of TV’s glorious days of yore, but more than that, I miss the seasonal regularity of those shows. You didn’t wait 2-3 (or more) years between seasons of 10 episodes in my day!
The just made them simpler. What was wrong with the shoulder design on the old ones?
They didn’t have to treat those poor astronauts like that!
It’s already a 10-day endurance test in a tiny capsule, and you’re making them use Microsoft slopware?
Happy birthday, sir. Your posts bring much joy to many of us, so I hope all that joy comes back to you tenfold on this day!
I was really expecting Super Mario’s Land of Original Delights and Inventive Cinematography to make this list.
If you want to know what I’m talking about in regards to the Washington Post’s absolute crap headline editors, see this earlier post:

I want to thank Imani Gandy for doing a better job explaining what the Supreme Court actually did yesterday than the @washingtonpost.com did with ham handed use of the word “probably” in a news alert and ABSOLUTELY nothing in their actual coverage.
Also, the “markets” have become Charlie Brown, flat on their backs, after Lucy yanks the football. They look like fracking idiots, reacting like Trump is a reliable narrator of anything.
