MPs legislate. That's all they do. Now they complain about that.

I can’t help thinking that when, in future, people ask what UK political leaders said as it became undeniable that US saw European liberal democracy as its no1 strategic foe, Starmer and others will regret that the answer is “not much, shuffled awkwardly, looked at their feet”.

"A system built on specialisation, efficiency", that right there is the death knell for the current university system in the UK, if (big if) government pushes it through. They actively don't want HE to grow, they will intervene, apparently, to help it shrink.

per this morning's education committee.

Brexit and being Reform-lite are your biggest problems. How about having an honest discussion with the electorate about the consequences of leaving the EU and not perpetuating myths about immigration?

Well said. I'll not vote for people that back this.

UK borrowing costs up after markets spooked by Reeves’s income tax U-turn Pound down 0.5% against dollar in early trading after chancellor drops plans for upcoming budget

Just as UK Higher Ed has gone past its red lines and the business will be in advising unis how to hold on and benefit from failures, all the work in politics looks like coming from Labour MPs who want to survive 2029 and return to office after Reform implode. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

*purr some more and louder*
*scratch the belly some more*
*purr purr … wait! That’s my belly!*

**ATTACK THE HAND!**

Leonard and Hungry Paul review – this Julia Roberts-narrated comedy is the perfect antidote to modern life Alex Lawther and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell star in this adaptation of Rónán Hession’s understated 2019 novel. Its quiet celebration of the gentle life is the opposite of today’s frantic TV – even if it does...

This is quite marvellous 👇

No, you aren’t imagining it: the Tube is getting louder I SAID, THE TUBE *IS* GETTING LOUDER.

The main cause of the noise is something that will, sooner or later, hit every part of the network: “rail corrugation”.

You aren’t imagining it: London's Tube is getting louder.
