Hmm…I just realized I may actually finally finish the Darkon campaign (lvl 1-15) I’ve been writing for about 2 years now by the fall. Just in time for spooky season!
Now I just have to figure out if it’s worth doing all the formatting to put it on DMsGuild.

I could not have said it any better myself.
At its core, its a rather simple tale, yet told in such a unique and brillant way to make it stand out. I have yet to find another book that matches its 'vibes' as the kids say.
If I was forced to name a favorite novel, that would be the one.
That's the one that convinced me to finally read the entire Discworld series!
The times you turned into a bat and flew away in a huff so I couldn't get the final word are too numerous to count...
So many other great wizard books out there:
- Merlin triology
- Wizard of Earthsea series
- Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
- Howl's Moving Castle
- Sorcery of Thorns
- Elric of Melniboné series
- A Sorceress Comes to Call
- The Last Unicorn
- Uprooted
- Discworld: Unseen University & Witch series
I likely will start doing them again.
Wouldn't be too hard to move them from one place to another. At least in my mind that doesn't sound too hard...
Thank you!
Us villains rarely get a break.
There's over 100 of them in case you were wondering and Azalin is salty about 99% of them.
I can't remember when I started the project, but I am nearly done writing up all my Darklord reviews written from Azalin's perspective.
Been contemplating posting them here twice a week from the start as I've been having difficulty being 'active' on this site and that may inspire me into activity.
The hours I spend researching Ravenloft lore to ultimately end up creating my own stories for my games is kind of hilarious.
Absolutely lovely creatures. I need at least a dozen to circle the castle at all times.
Agreed!
I've figured out how to circumvent my curse!
Acorn-fed Iberico salami.
With this mouthfeel, I don't even want to know what it tastes like. It can't be as good as what I'm imagining.
My daily to do list:
- Attempt to learn a new spell just in case my tormentors aren’t paying attention
- Ten hours of scheming
- Four hours of laboratory experimentation
- Twenty minute screaming break in the Room of Silence
- At least another eight hours of scheming
- Light reading if time allows
(I played VtM back in the day, I get the references)
What a cutie.
And an excuse to watch more musicals! Win-win, really.
Maybe start small with what you were doing - no need for satire really…got to be a way to do this without giving them headspace.
I could see a series of Ivan’s take on different musicals being fun.
OOC. I get that completely and similar reasons why I haven’t touched this account in a while.
I may just lean into silly lich based jokes for a bit but we’ll see…with my current job situation I have very little time/creative energy for this.
Yes, yes. Being a lich grants you vast, unfathomable arcane prowess, but at what cost?
Most animals fear you and booping a zombie on their half-decaying snoot is not nearly the same.
Material components to make yourself another carriage! Very generous of me.
I returned it? Hmm…doesn’t sound like me.
Forcing your lich roomate to teach you proper magic will do that I suppose...
"Can you explain the gap in your resume?"
Ah, yes. That was shortly after I inadvertedly transformed Il Aluk into Necropolis and my essences was scattered throughout Darkon. In 3 years I was able to form corherent thoughts and in another 2 was able to manipulate some adventurers to set things right
The good Doctor's reserach in his earlier works was adequate at best. If he had done a more thorough job he would have known to write 'below average' in this particular account.
Well, I have always wanted to create my own skeleton band...
Perhaps I should employ a halfling from Rivalis to craft a lovely sign that says "No Admittance Except on Party Business" and post it at the end of the King's Highway.
If the doom guards patrolling the battlements and the birds plummeting to their death if they even look at Castle Avernus doesn’t keep unwanted visitors at bay, perhaps the recent foot of snow will.
