Hoping to connect with artists, makers and those who appreciate such things. I paint in oil, mostly abstracted land and sea, although I'm a dab hand at getting a person's likeness, but this isn't what pays the bills.
I'm based in Cambridge, UK and am in recovery from a whole other working life.

A small rectangular painting in oil, showing a simple field and hedgerow scene. The style is painterly with a flash of light across the sky, suggesting a windswept open countryside. The palette is very simple and uses only two colours (blue and orange) with black and white. I've mixed the colours in different proportions to maximize what they can do.

From the archive: I can't remember precisely when I painted this, but it was the first time I really felt happy with the direction of my work. It sold quickly, and to someone who loved it ❤️

Still getting used to doing alt text (will change the setting I just discovered exists). A large canvas with a tempera and marble dust underpainting to form texture and sense of wild rock formations. A seascape with a calm surface where the waves break against the jagged rocks. Storm sky, low light.

A vivid painting showing clear blue water and golden yellow reeds in close-up . The scene is from a beautiful early spring/late winter day, showing the beauty that can be found in what's faded and past, before fresh new growth comes. The painting is mostly oil on canvas with a tempera underpainting and natural grasses incorporated into the paint. The canvas measures 100cm X 100cm

This is the same painting but shown frames and on the wall in a white tray frame. Smaller seascape paintings are nearby, and there are a number of items on the unit below, including melamine bowls and plates from the Rose & Tulipani 'Sealife' range.

This was probably the visitors' favourite at last Summer's exhibition. It is fundamentally oil on canvas, but with a tempera underpainting, and natural grasses incorporated into the top layers. 100cm X 100cm.

An expressive seascape painting with a palette of muted earth colours, violet and turquoise. The sea is rough, and the sky overcast. There is energy in this painting and, partially bscured on the horizon, a lighthouse.

This sea painting is finally finished and ready for framing. Hooray! Part of 'Wild North East' series.
