Mammals have hundreds of joints and muscles. Controlling them individually would be nearly impossible.

How does the nervous system organize such complexity into coherent actions?

Our new study explores this question through a natural behavior: jumping.

Your gut has a sex, and it matters! 🔥
In females, the ovary sends a relaxin hormone signal to enteric neurons, switching on gut enlargement and increased feeding after mating.
So excited my postdoc work is finally out as a preprint 🥳

🧠🌟🐭 Excited to share some of my postdoc work on the evolution of dexterity!

We compared deer mice evolved in forest vs prairie habitats. We found that forest mice have:
(1) more corticospinal neurons (CSNs)
(2) better hand dexterity
(3) more dexterous climbing, which is linked to CSN number🧵

We set out to map a detailed proteome of the human DRG and nerve using DIA-MS as a reference to the field, and I think we've succeeded! Lots of proteins (& lots of ion channels), with the data is fully searchable. It's also available on @sparc.science
