I worked on A/R with DHS around building damage assessment for FEMA. We anxiously discussed how the technology could be misused more than a decade ago. Those fears have come to pass.

This has been happening for several months in New England.
Not a dime of taxpayer money or govt contracts should go to Palantir.
Trump: Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them. The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, and gave them fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom. Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel. The TOUSKA is under U.S. Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody of the ship, and are seeing what's on board! President DONALD J. Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

Wasn't Ronald Reagan one of the leaders at SAG to ensure actors received residuals from their movies?
BREAKING: An ICE charter landed in the Democratic Republic of Congo minutes ago following third-country deportation deal with the Trump administration.

Mortal is the correct term, but cardinal implies that three comedians dressed in red robes will jump out of nowhere and impose judgement on the offenders on behalf of the Spanish Inquisition.
This raises the question if putting these beverages in the same glass is a cardinal sin or merely a venial sin.
Illness is not a moral failure. Medical debt is not a sign of poor character. But choosing war over healthcare — cutting Medicaid while Americans go broke getting sick? That IS a failure. A moral one. #HealthcareNotTrumpsWar
I am broken-hearted at the terrible news that my alma mater, @hampshirecollege.bsky.social, after 56 yrs, is closing. Its death is a victory for conformism, for corporatism, for higher education's dull love of hierarchy & status. It's a grievous defeat for imagination & experimentation.
You know I knew that Door Dash woman looked familiar
NEW—I got an exclusive excerpt from a USAID whistleblower's new book that made me gasp multiple times. It details Trump's dismantling of the humanitarian aid agency & his team/DOGE's shocking ignorance to public health.
'Into the Wood Chipper' by Nicholas Enrich is out tomorrow. Read excerpt here:

As I help my 92yo dad with his taxes--an engineer who studied more math than most people I know--I am struck by how needlessly difficult we make tax filing and retirement funds management for seniors. Add the health care mess and it is damn near impossible to stay on the right side of every rule.
This is not the monolith we wanted to find on the moon.
In Donald Trump’s America, the rich get tax cuts, the well-connected get stock tips, and everybody else makes sacrifices.
In a war that has repeatedly demonstrated the incompetence, stupidity and malevolence of Trump and his team, the past 48 hours may have been the worst—-especially on the incompetence and stupidity fronts.
Trump is done. He needs to be removed from office. He’s compromised, unwell, and unfit. Call your Republican reps and tell them it’s time. He’s an albatross. Cut him loose.
Ex Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting under Obama👇🏽
Good lord. If we cede control of the strait to Iran…. And agree to REPARATIONS…. This will be the biggest humiliation in American history
He still needs to be removed from office. A war powers resolution will not suffice. He circumvented Congress to start the war. He circumvented them on tariffs and appropriations. Why anyone thinks he'd adhere to a Congressional war powers resolution is beyond me.
Scratch that. She released a milquetoast video with 'VP Vance won't trigger the 25th' and 'Congress lacks the votes for Impeachment.'
Donald Trump’s deranged threat to destroy “a whole civilization” in Iran is a threat to commit war crimes and genocide. Republicans in Congress must prevail upon VP Vance, now campaigning for Putin’s puppet Viktor Orban in Hungary, to return to the U.S. and invoke Section 4 of the 25th Amendment.
The matter-of-fact way she asks what investors should do if Trump destroys Iran. Absolutely wild.
"Let's talk about tonight, this deadline that President Trump has set 8 p.m., has threatened to destroy a civilization. How does an investor process that? Is it a bigger upside risk or downside risk?"
Accusation = confession. It is the narcissist's equation.
The president is openly threatening extraordinary war crimes, in a war he started without congressional approval — and without either justification or strategy.
All Americans should be demanding:
Impeach him. Remove him. He is lawless and dangerous man.
I wonder how much European capitals have considered what their response would be if the US uses nuclear weapons in Iran this week.
Dan Rather represents an era when journalism wasn't as polarized into political groups. I miss those days. 😭
