I shared a story with AAP yesterday about a child I met at a park who was severely impacted by pneumococcal meningitis in 2000 right before prevnar was available for infants. His and his family's life forever changed. I wrote it on a plane and ended up ugly crying. The poor woman next to me.

Pertussis in infants is terrifying but it’s not just the cough.

It’s the fact that babies literally STOP BREATHING.

~2/3 of infants hospitalized have apnea (life threatening pauses in breathing)

Vaccination starts at 2 mo so it’s important EVERYONE is immunized to protect our littlest ones.
