What's the difference between Trm and exhausted CD8 T cells? Simone Park's new work dissects this important question. These cell types are often confused, but are ontologically and mechanistically distinct with implications for immunotherapy responses. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Contact me directly with your CV if you’re interested. Full disclosure that I may not be able to respond to all messages if this goes anything like my last job ad!
Now that the lab has stuff in it, I’m looking for a postdoc.
Must have:
- Mouse experience (several years ideally)
- Cell culture experience
- An interest in T cells
- Team player
Bonus points for:
- any flow experience
- any scRNAseq exp (wet or dry)
- CAR T manufacturing
Seeing my colleagues succeed brings me so much joy. Can’t wait for the ‘proud PI’ moments to come from my lab. I’ve already asked my trainees how they like to receive recognition and they are both the quiet email types. This will be a challenge…gotta rein it in!

The best advice I received about hiring was always hire people smarter than yourself. I’ve taken that very seriously, plus added my own criteria “vibes”, and I am so excited for the new Minnie Lab team members to start soon!!

I’m very specifically looking for a tech with mouse experience for my new lab! Message me or apply through the link if you’re interested!

I also started the hiring process months early - I haven’t even started yet! And it was exceptionally lucky under these circumstances that I did, but I do recommend all new faculty do it anyways!
Hiring freeze at the same time as starting a lab will keep things interesting. Got one hire through the door before it happened at least. This tech really wanted some hands-on training and boy are they going to get it 😂

If you are interested in translational science but also love digging into a good immunology mechanism, please contact me! I'm hiring at all levels. There is a research technician job ad out already (aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF05438) but I'll be looking for postdocs too!
I am beyond excited to be starting my lab at UCSF in May 2025. I'll be joining the Hematology/Oncology Division and working with the Myeloma Program (lead by @ajaichari.bsky.social) to advance immunotherapies and cellular therapies for myeloma!
Happy New Year! 2025 is going to be a big one!!
Very exciting news! My COI is that my dad owns a bunch of shares on the Australian side. Bought them years ago and I was a naysayer. So happy to be wrong!!

This might just end up being a PNW nature shots account for the next couple of days 😅 It’s so beautiful here!
Break from scientific programming to say that the PNW is truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever lived!
This was one of the most useful courses I’ve ever done. Highly recommend. Don’t walk, run!!!

Presenting this paper at journal club tomorrow and I’m actually so excited to share it with the lab. I’ve said it at the other place and I’ll say it here, it’s just a beautiful paper!!!

Idk, I’ve been in restaurants where groups of adults can’t use their inside voice and we can’t have a conversation over the obnoxious laughing and yelling. I don’t take my toddler to restaurants because I personally don’t want to have a bad time, but could we ban those adults too?

Excited to see our T-cell exhaustion preprint published! This work is led by Tristan Tay and collaborators at AstraZeneca. See the sub-thread (reformatted for bluesky) originally composed and posted by the newly minted Dr. Tay

Follow me for more mentoring thoughts that I’m literally stealing from parenting books 😂. Apparently just being an empathetic adult goes a long way to fostering collaborative relationships both at home and at work.
Finally, it doesn’t take away anything from anyone to acknowledge feelings/perceptions before offering advice. Sometimes people don’t want advice, just a “yeah that sucks.” Anyways, that’s my yet to be tested 2 cents so take it with a grain of salt.
