i know it's a rarely practical combo but i think part of the fun in sa3 is to experiment with different character combos and see what you get. idk, amy is clearly situated as the "weird" option and i think that's what makes her great!

keep it amy/sonic only. it's what makes her unique, and the sonic combo exists as the way to overwrite that. it gives the people the option at the very least

also, if you change it for amy/others, what about others/amy? would they lose the wacky regular jump too?

i could honestly yap a lot more but i will stop here. there's so much to say about these movies!

it also took me a large amount of restraint not to put angry birds on a meme tier for having limp bizkit in it. it has only gotten funnier after listening to the entirety of results may vary

having a constant flow of references has its own weird appeal too, dont get me wrong, but it simply doesn't make for a good movie. it makes for a good visual experience

the sonic movies dont really represent the source material as well or look as pretty, but at least they feel like REAL movies...

but god damn it's so boring as a movie. it feels like it was made for 6 year olds raised on tiktok. everything happens so quickly with no breathing room, and in a very safe and formulaic fashion

and the sequel only doubles down on this!

i love how it so faithfully adapts the world of mario while also taking creative liberties that feel so right that i wish nintendo copied them straight up. mario bros SHOULD be from brooklyn. nintendo retconning that shit was their biggest mistake

did it stick the landing? no, that's why it's not THAT high. by all objective metrics it is not a good movie, and a rewatch might even make it drop a bit! but god damn i adore it

the new mario movie meanwhile feels like the polar opposite, though i guess not necessarily in a bad way!

as for the original mario movie and why it's so high, i just love its unique take on the mario franchise. it's like the filmmakers looked at the games and said "how in the hell are we supposed to adapt this?", killed all of miyamoto's intent, and made their own lynchian take on the franchise

like, you need to

- like markiplier (95% of the movie is him)
- like cosmic horror as a genre
- find gamey elements in movies cute
- not mind a slow burn
- be fine with the plot being presented in a vague and confusing way
- have good audio

to actually enjoy it. and for me it ticked all the boxes!

i was wondering "hey, what do people actually think about the iron lung movie" and i was kinda surprised to see that everyone's so mixed! i understand though. it really is a very niche experience that's not really for everyone

ok it was actually very good lol. i went in knowing nothing about it, and it turned out to be a slow paced and cryptic horror movie. "horrors beyond our comprehension" type shit. definitely not for everyone but i really really liked it. mark's acting was great too!
