In the home of Dresden art collector and patron Ida Bienert. Known as the Salon de Madame B... à Dresden, this project is a landmark in the expansion of Neo-Plasticism, a "new design" philosophy favoring horizontal and vertical lines, primary colors, and non-colors, into 3-dimensional architectural space. Key Features of the Salon Design Composition: Mondrian did not treat the walls, floor, and ceiling individually, but rather as a unified "spatial compound" where colors form balanced, asymmetrical relationships. Palette: The design incorporated large areas of white and various shades of grey, highlighted with strategically placed, meticulously arranged rectangles of red, blue, yellow, and black. Furnishings: The room's furniture was included in the plan, highly stylized to match the geometric and color scheme of the walls and floor, creating a completely immersive interior. Windows and Doors: These were integrated directly into the orthogonal grid, often functioning as, or containing, the white elements of the composition. Context and Preservation Commission: Following a 1925 exhibition in Dresden where Bienert bought his work, she requested a study-library in her villa. Realization: Although Ida Bienert approved of the design, it was never executed, likely due to financial reasons or the practical limitations of that time. Preservation: The original design—comprising a floor layout, wall sections, and ceiling view in gouache and pencil—is held in the Kupferstich-Kabinett, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Modern Reconstruction: A modern installation based on these plans by artist Heimo Zobernig was installed in the atrium of the Albertinum in Dresden.

This project, alongside his own Parisian studio, served as a primary example of Mondrian's effort to move his painting style off the canvas and into the living environment.

PANEL 1: From behind NOSH and the CAPTAIN, ORLA pushes her point with her arms stretched out. ORLA: You all haven’t seen the Jinyiwei reports I’ve seen, so let me bring you up to speed: PANEL 2: Close up on ORLA as she counts on her fingers. ORLA: The CEO of Indústriaglobo? DEAD. Head of Banco Imperial? DEAD. Four planetary governors? DEAD. PANEL 3: Orla continues, pointing, while CUDDOW reacts with eyes wide next to her. ORLA: TWENTY THREE high-ranking members of La Familia have been killed since the Emperor took the throne. HE CLEARED THE BOARD OF COMPETITION. CUDDOW: Oof. PANEL 4: ORLA continues talking, moving her hands to the side. ORLA: So, seeing what was coming, a working group of cousins came together to keep ‘Nando safe. He was, after all, his father’s son. So they got him out of Madrid, and into space, and into a ship they knew they could trust. PANEL 5: ORLA continues, CUDDOW and VINNIE look up at her. ORLA: And along the way, a handful of Drive Corps were called in to help as well as a select few of Jinyiwei agents. PANEL 6: NOSH points at ORLA, CUDDOW and VINNIE react with eyes wide and mouth open. NOSH: And is that how you got pulled in? As Jinyiwei? ORLA: No, Nosh… I got pulled in as FAMILIA. —— Want to read the full story? Join us at Patreon.com/drive for the *FULL* Tales of the Drive archives, art giveaways, fun community, and more! Boards of Canada sitting in a glass obelisk on a remote Scottish island fast-forwarding through VHS tapes of old Sesame Street episodes, waiting for Big Bird to say 'toilet' so they can sample it, distort it beyond recognition, and bury it so deep in the mix no one will ever hear it.
Thanks Ray :)

An apparently outclassed Eowyn in mortal combat with Angmar, leader of the Nazgûl. The style is of a bold woodcut.

The destruction of Mount Doom. Lightning bolts fire out from a mountain’s summit while a blast carries away its mid-section.
