Exactly the point that makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, James.

As John Peel VERY DEFINITELY once said, "Listen, mate, life has excesses and follies"

Very proud to have played a small part in planning all of this. Still plenty to do before we move in, but I’m very, very excited 😁

Well worth the wait as my review in the current edition of Prog magazine makes clear...

I'm very grateful to author Aymeric Leroy, and publisher Steve Feigenbaum at Cuneiform for sending me this splendidly, weighty tome. It really is the definitive word on the Canterbury Scene. I can't recommend it enough to fans of the genre. Time for a cup of tea, I think.

Just off the blower with Bill MacCormick. Such a lovely bloke and a brilliant bass player as this absolute banger ably demonstrates.

True story. Whenever I see clouds like this it always brings to mind Harry Robinson's sublime string arrangement on Nick Drake's River Man, specifically from 1.40 in and right through to the end.

Chatting with Art Themen today. At the end I mentioned seeing him in Stan Tracey's 4tet in the 70s, & those gigs being akin to a religious experience. Without missing a beat, he said, 'Bless you.' Captain Adventure remains my all-time favourite LP of Stan's.

I adore these two albums. I lost loads of my LPs due to house moves, rash cash conversions etc but I still have these through thick and thin.

Anyone on here see Soft Machine in concert 1970 - 1974? I'm currently writing a piece and I'm interested in getting eyewitness accounts of the team in action. If yes, please PM me or send an email (address in my bio)

You will not regret it, Martin. Seen them a few times and their gigs are always stellar.

Several years ago I mixed and looped the drones of Snodland, The German Lesson and The French Lesson together in Garageband to produce the best 40-minute ambient album that Soft Machine never made. Back in 1973 we used to call this stuff 'cosmic tinkles'.

Definitely peak Crimso as well. All the peaks!

Love it. That period's Peak Floyd for sure.

I'm going to London next week to see these guys again. If you've never seen them, try and get along. They are simply phenomenal in concert. Details here:

The Bug is disappointed in me. Nothing specific, he adds, as if that makes things better.
