Feels like the word ceasefire is pretty clear. Obviously to some it is not.

I used to be online support for a subscription based dictionary (yes it was that long ago). We would regularly reassure users that it’s normal for the service to be down from 2pm till about 4 becuase ‘the US has just come online…try again later’

Been working on the web since the last millennium. Most of my family always referred to my job as ‘working with computers’ we now regularly talk about AI - good and bad. All age groups, 10 to 90. I’ve never known something this quick to the dinner table.

I do agree with lots of the points but as you say the framing feels more like a critique of many western societies now.

Agree. Where is the… and we had a great time taking and learning about people we usually don’t speak to. Getting some exercise we didn’t expect. Having a cup of tea make by someone else. Not saying it’s all positive with rainbows and singing but I find the framing quite me not we.

This Is Us The commander of NASA’s Artemis II mission to the Moon, Reid Wiseman, took this photo of the Earth as the spacecraft speeds away our planet. There are two auroras (top right and bottom left) and zodiacal light

Great photo of the whole Earth taken from NASA's Artemis II spacecraft. "There are two auroras (top right and bottom left) and zodiacal light (bottom right) is visible as the Earth eclipses the Sun." Wow. [kottke.org]

How To Write Alt Text For Memes | Veroniiiica My favorite tips for how to write alt text for memes, reaction images, and other types of social media comedy content, written by someone with low vision

It's no surprise that breaking news leads to a flood of memes across social media. As you share memes about the big news story of the day (and let's face it, many are meme-ing it), remember alt text.

If you've never written alt text for memes, this resource from Veronica Lewis will help you.

I think I did manage to build a distributed radio show on atproto. What’s interesting about this is you can just define lexicons and most PDSs are Fail-open validation so accepts a custom lexicon or an extension. As such my site is just static pages pushing and reading a DID. No database/content.

This week, Brexit finally killed our family business. We cleared out our warehouse, handed back the keys, paid the final bills and said goodbye to our last employee.
What was once a thriving firm died a slow, sad death, all thanks to Farage, Johnson and the gullible idiots they conned. 1/18
