In a targeted attack on his car, Israel has killed Al-Jazeera's
Hossam Shabat, who was only 23 years old and was one of the last remaining journalists in Gaza.
There are no words.
These Israeli leaflets dropped on Gaza are so depraved, so disturbed, that it's difficult to even know what to say 👇

So while media avoid calling Palestinian refugees as such, and with talk of mass deportation of refugees, we see this over stretching of the word in other contexts that contributes to eroding its meaning. No those who left twitter are not refugees.. neither are Americans moving to Madrid 🤦🏻
So we should not use this because "you don’t know where the data goes".. as opposed to data going to the likes of Elon Musk, which is totally fine :/

"The demographic overhaul at New College of Florida is perhaps the first real-life attempt to counteract the so-called "feminization" of education": well, maybe the first attempt that's so brazen, but AA for men is a poorly-kept secret at many private schools.

That's one way to say Israel is an expansionist violent settler state. Hands off Syria!
"Palestine is most dangerous country.." what an outrageous and shameful headline that obscures that it's Israel that is killing journalists en masse

Pics of scantily clothed Bashar Al-Assad are going viral on Syrian social media. Whether authentic or not, the point is that he is subjected to a public stripping of authority (& masculinity). Similar to the fairytale on the emperor's clothes, he lost his clothes as he lost power.
Call for Submissions for a Special Issue in Middle East Critique entitled 'Rethinking State and Regime in the Middle East and North Africa: Conceptual, Historical, and Methodological Clarifications'
📢 CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Together with @kaoutarghi.bsky.social, we are curating a special issue for Middle East Critique that seeks to address a fundamental challenge in Middle Eastern and North African politics scholarship: the persistent conceptual confusion surrounding ‘state’ and ‘regime.’
Disturbing that Saidnaya was also a party town. Families used to go dance, eat & drink in dozens of restaurants and clubs near this torture centre. This encapsulates what the fallen regime represents, how it hid its extreme brutality in plain sight and implicated Syrians in it.
Unimaginable.
The liberation of the women/children section of Sednaya prison. Cut off from the world, they’ve no idea what’s happened.
A man shouts: “You are all free now. Don’t be scared. Go home.”
“What happened?” a woman asks
“The Regime fell. You are free.”

JUST IN: Footage of Syria's rebels liberating secret underground floor at Sednaya Prison, where an estimated 150,000 Syrian civilians were being held without trials.
