The University of St Andrews Observatory Open night last Saturday was a success with the clouds clearing in time for the event! Several hundred visitors were able to see the planet Jupiter through small telescopes as well as some deep sky objects with the James Gregory Telescope.
Save the date: The St Andrews Observatory will open its doors and domes for its annual Open Night on March 14th, 6-9pm. All welcome, entry free. All telescopes will be in action, and we will try to observe, if the weather is clear.

Congratulats to Dr Pía Cortés Zuleta who has been awarded the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science UK and Ireland Young Talent Award in the category of Physical Sciences. The prize was awarded for her work on developing novel techniques for the detection and characterisation of low-mass exoplanets.

A short digital course in astronomy has been developed by our academic staff member, Dr Weijmans. This course explores the Solar System, stars, galaxies and cosmology, and alongside the scientific view on astronomy, also offers historical and cultural insights.
