Whenever I see “outlier” in text, I can’t help but imagine it’s a charming French loan word (oot-lee-ay). Same with fitout (fit-oo).

Tabled in Parliament today, the Victorian Ombudsman‘s latest investigation report provides some timely reflections on the link between humane treatment in custody and rehabilitation, outsourcing of public services, and oversight of closed environments.

— Donkeys, in grey and white varietals, roaming free on the former prison island Asinara, now a national park.

Roma, il mio cuore! A day cycling the Via Appia Antica showed off ancient catacombs, crumbling monuments and elegant villas. UNESCO tells me it dates back to 312BC, but it might be most famous as a backdrop to many gems of Italian cinema.
