Whenever I see “outlier” in text, I can’t help but imagine it’s a charming French loan word (oot-lee-ay). Same with fitout (fit-oo).

— Sardines. Many of them, all delicious.
— Donkeys, in grey and white varietals, roaming free on the former prison island Asinara, now a national park.
— Medieval architecture in the winding streets of Castelsardo.

Roma, il mio cuore! A day cycling the Via Appia Antica showed off ancient catacombs, crumbling monuments and elegant villas. UNESCO tells me it dates back to 312BC, but it might be most famous as a backdrop to many gems of Italian cinema.
