They’ll never accept it, but everyone who cast a vote for Donald Trump did real, generations-long damage to the United States and the west in exchange for essentially nothing of value.

This is straight-up fascist dictatorship activity. Not fascist-adjacent or “reminiscent of authoritarian regimes” or whatever euphemistic bullshit — fascism.

We're not done yet | 18F

18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

18F is *precisely* what Musk and team claim should exist within government. But when his team found it, they destroyed it, because it is evidence that government works well (can’t have that!), and because like Zelensky, 18F didn’t bend the knee.

Just in case people don't know the context, this is a policy called splitting the letters, developed by fundamentalist Christians to use feminist and queer language and culture to split the T off and then turn the others against each other.

You can watch their 2017 conference planning it.

There are literally hundreds of research projects here at UIUC being destroyed by the cuts to the NSF, NIH, NIFA, USAID. It’s an incomprehensible waste of scientific progress and human capital.

I recently bought a 2025 model in part due to your videos about the Ioniq 5! It's really an excellent car, it now has a rear wiper and the infotainment software sends much improved. No L2 charger at home yet, but my husband can charge at work (for free!)

In a one-party state like California, voters’ real power is in obscure, low-turnout primary elections that decide who controls the Democratic Party. This is one such election. You should register and vote!

Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandum M-25-13, issued on January 27, 2025, directs all Federal agencies to conduct a comprehensive review of their financial assistance programs to determine programs, projects, and activities that may be implicated by the recent Executive Orders. Therefore, all review panels, new awards, and all payments of funds under open awards will be paused as the agency conducts the required reviews and analysis. NSF has created an Executive Order Implementation webpage to ensure the widest dissemination of information and updates. We will continue to communicate with you as we receive additional guidance.

All NSF grantees must comply with these Executive Orders, and any other relevant Executive Orders issued, by ceasing all non-compliant grant and award activities. Executive Orders are posted at https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/. In particular, this may include, but is not limited to conferences, trainings, workshops, considerations for staffing and participant selection, and any other grant activity that uses or promotes the use of DEIA principles and frameworks or violates Federal anti-discrimination laws. Please work with your institutional research office to assist you in complying with the Executive Orders. You can also direct your questions through the form on this NSF webpage.

Thank you for your work advancing science, engineering, technology and innovation for our nation.

Live Updates: Congestion Pricing Begins After Long Delay The New York City tolling plan, the first of its kind in the country, finally debuts after being halted just weeks before its original start date last summer.

After decades of delays and challenges, congestion pricing arrived in the heart of New York City on Sunday. The toll is part of the city’s plan to reduce some of the world’s heaviest traffic while raising billions of dollars to pay for improvements to mass transit. Follow live updates.

A comic called "What City Pigeons Talk About". Two city pigeons are standing on the sidewalk. One says "Hey, do you ever think about the past?" The other says "The past?"

A comic called "What City Pigeons Talk About". Two city pigeons are standing on the sidewalk. One says "Hey, do you ever think about the past?" The other says "The past?"

A closeup of the first pigeon. They say "Yeah - do you ever think about where we came from? Sometimes I forget that city pigeons are domestic animals."

A closeup of the first pigeon. They say "Yeah - do you ever think about where we came from? Sometimes I forget that city pigeons are domestic animals."

A hand reaches out to three wild pigeons. The narrator pigeon says "Humans domesticated us many millennia ago in the Middle East. We provided meat, feces used for fertilizer, and much more." There are two very fancy pigeon breeds. "Over time, people split us into hundreds of pure breeds - some quite elaborate! Kings and queens proudly kept pigeons, and colonists spread us worldwide."

A closeup again of the first pigeon, who says, "But we fell out of fashion. Now we peck at the dusty concrete, our past glory all but forgotten. Do you ever think about that?"

I love this project proposal for SF's Sunset District. Massive upgrade from the dinky 2-story SFHs that dominate the district thanks to it's strict zoning.

Silicon Valley's Push Into Transportation Has Been a Miserable Failure The titans of tech brought plenty of disruption to our broken transportation system but delivered little in the way of innovation.

"Elon Musk admitted to his biographer that the reason the Hyperloop was announced—even though he had no intention of pursuing it—was to try to disrupt the California high-speed rail project and to get in the way of that actually succeeding."

I think the Dems need to field gruff corruption busters at all levels whose primary campaign response to culture war issues is “All Americans should enjoy the freedom and bounty of this great country. That won’t be possible so long as venal men impoverish you and loot the country of your wealth”

We're doing two thanksgivings this year which means so much leftover turkey. Turkey carcass soup, turkey tetrazzini, what else should we make?

Some random Nazi made dozens of accounts to try to harass me today when blocking malfunctioned, & *still* failed because not one single person engaged.

It seems everyone on Bluesky got the memo. React to nothing. Starve them out.

They're so desperate for a crumb of attention. Deny them.
