That's unfortunate. However, don't give up! It might be worth talking to some librarians as that's part of the purpose for libraries having computers in the first place.

Nice! I never made the Zork connection but my friends and I did a very similar thing when I was 12. We would draw dungeons and then a friend would say what they would do going through the dungeon and the "master" would say what happens.

I think if people want the original mechanics they'll play the original game. For a revision, I would simplify and, to me, that means 1d20 and no exploding dice.
