And then, on second thought, perhaps I won't Because they're Monsters, and so I don't. On days like that I don't think at all That being the Doctor's so bad after all.

12 FEBRUARY WHEN NICE ISN'T NICE THE DOCTOR Absolutely incredible: a TARDIS linked to a Stattenheim remote control! The Rani is a genius. Shame I can't stand her. I wonder if I was particularly nice to her, she might..? No. The Mark of the Rani by Pip and Jane Baker (1985) In the 1810s, groups of textile workers in England are destroying new machines that they believe are doing them out of work. These workers are known as Luddites, named after their supposed leader, Ned Ludd. Around the village of Killingworth, these attacks have become particularly violent. The Doctor learns that the Luddites' aggression is the result of scientific experiments being carried out on workers by his old schoolmate from Gallifrey, the Rani. She's callously removed the chemical from people's brains which enables them able to sleep. The Doctor sets out to thwart the Rani but can't deny her technical brilliance. He's so impressed by the remote-control system she's made for her TARDIS that he briefly considers trying to charm her into sharing her technology. But of course he immediately dismisses the idea. Don't be nice to someone, or overlook the harm they do, just because of what you think you can gain from them.
