The first panel shows the back deck of the boat. The shape of Stolas and Blitz's silhouettes are leaning against the railing - Stolas on the outside and Blitz on the inside. Blitz says, “I guess I just think of it like this. It’s always gonna be an option, the dying thing. I can keep it in my back pocket, but in the meantime, there’s still time for things to get better. If you pull the trigger, there’s no fucking chance at all. My life still sucks, but I’m really trying to build something down here in this shithole. And I’ve got two proteges who rely on me, too. I gotta stick around for them, make sure they don’t get into trouble.” Stolas looks touched as he says, “They must mean a lot to you. It sounds nice. I’m very well-accustomed to being alone, but I’ve always wondered what it would be like.” Blitz asks, “What, to have a protege?” Stolas is still smiling, but he's wiping at his eyes. He says, “To have a friend.”

Internally, Blitz looks stricken. The first panel shows an imaginary arrow piercing his chest. To quote the story: And what the actual fuck was Blitzø supposed to do with that? Just keep on talking as though it wasn’t one of the saddest things he’d ever heard? Outwardly, Blitz grins and blurts out, “Well, it’s your lucky fucking day. I’m your friend now.” Stolas perks up and asks, “Really?” He asked. Blitz replies, “Uhhhhh— Suuure? I can, uh, text you dumb pictures of funny stuff, and we’ll grab coffee once in a while. Or afternoon tea with those dumb tiny sandwiches, or whatever rich pricks do to have fun.” Stolas says, “I-I know you might simply be teasing me, but I would truly love that. I would love nothing more! I-If you’re not joking, that is!” Blitz replies, “Nah, I mean it. Do you want a real joke, though? I got plenty of those. What does a hot dog use for protection?” Stolas seems to think about it seriously for a long moment before he finally says, “I don’t know. What?”

Blitz delivers the punchline, “ConDOMents.” Stolas has a hand over his mouth as he snorts, his pupils appearing in his eyes. He starts laughing, “Ohoho, I, I’m sorry, I-I just — I truly wasn’t ready for that! It really is clever, the, the wordplay, and how it sounds like — oh my goodness, I can’t breathe!” Blitz looks stunned to have actually gotten this reaction. His eyes are wide and shining as he thinks, 'Fuuuuck' He looks at Stolas who's cheeks are flushed as he's still laughing, against the background of the starry night sky and thinks, 'I’m in trouble, aren't I?'
