You're right. Additionally, to give an example, in books, when indicating the credit of an image, it's written in very small italics at the bottom of the image to avoid distracting the reader's focus.

Especially on platforms like Twitter, facebook etc this situation hardly ever happens. Therefore, alt-sections are used as a credit attribution tool.

The main reason for not including the credit information in the description is that I want users to focus directly on the images.

it was used in cases where alt-section images couldn't be loaded. but nowadays, with today's technology, the inability to load alt-sections occurs very rarely.
