I had the absolute privilege of spending 2 and a half days in Devon with The West 100 cohort 3 last week. My brain has been in overdrive since and I’m so energised for the year ahead. Even finished with a little beach walk 🫶🏻

First week 'critical' to avoid children missing school later, parents told Data suggests more than half of children who miss a day at the start of term become persistently absent.

What is everyone doing this week to ensure great attendance and to support students/families? I’d love to hear different approaches…

Just for context I did my PGCE at Cardiff met back in 2012 after my BA. I then moved up to Berkshire and am now based in Somerset. My partner lived in Cardiff until 2016. Longer term we’d love to move back

I’m interested in linking with anyone who has made the move from teaching in England to Wales in a leadership role. I am very happy in my current school but thinking about my 5/10 year plan. If anyone would be willing to talk a few things through I’d be most grateful

‘Supporting shy pupils to talk in class’

“There were positive effects for increasing average warm calling and wait time in class. This should include a careful deployment of ‘cold calling’.”

A perfect weekend before the last week of term. Vitamin D, slow mornings, giving the garden a bit of attention ahead of the holidays (under pug supervision obviously) and long pup walks 🥰 One week to go, we’ve got this 👌🏼
