Tonight I’m celebrating my first short story acceptance to a soon-to-be-published anthology! It’s an honor to have been selected! My cheeks are sore from smiling, my champagne is bubbling, and my heart is bursting from the love I’ve gotten from my friends and fellow writers!

I came upon a smattering of 20-somethings huddled around a bonfire during my sunset hike. No one goes camping to make new friends, so I walked briskly ahead. “Nice night,” I nodded. Their heads swiveled in unison. “Come sit.” For some reason, I did. And for some reason, I’m still here. #hbp116
Short story is done and submitted! This is my first time sharing something for consideration. Regardless of how it goes, I’m proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone.
omg THANK YOUUU!
Second draft of my high fantasy short story is done! 💙📚 #BookSky
No one else in the whole world can write the story you’re working on, and there are people who need exactly this book to exist! It’s going to be beautiful, complex, powerful, and meaningful! You’re so close!
Tonight marks the first time I’ve ever 1) finished a short story, 2) written a complete fantasy piece, and 3) felt like it’s good enough to share with others. Am I…a writer??
I can hear the cackle!

It sounds fascinating! Keep us all posted!
Hahaha I love that. It’s freeing to let go of “accuracy!” Your concept sounds like a blast btw.
Having the best time writing my fantasy short story! And, I’ve realized my WIP was feeling disjointed because I was getting hung up on *reality* — I plan to pretend my contemporary fiction novel is a fantastical work to be explored, not a textbook to be fact-checked (at least, not yet). #amwriting
One thing before tomorrow:
Use your local libraries.
Get your card.
Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.
Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).
Attend promoted activities.
Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.
Tell your kids that libraries are good.
They are.

We are about to enter an era of extreme and dangerous culture war in the United States. How do we protect our communities and work toward a cultural ceasefire? In this piece I wrote a couple months ago, I offer one possible path. wapo.st/40q1BDn
Dipping my toes into fantasy writing this week! I’m a die-hard fantasy reader who hasn’t written my own magic worlds for a decade. Anyone else avid readers of genres they don’t usually write? #booksky
Do what you have to do to take care of your mental health as this administration is sworn in. There’s little we can do if we become puddles of overwhelm.
My goal? To avoid hearing him speak for the next four years. It might be lofty, but it’ll be the little things that get us through. #inaguration

Took a break from my WIP today to elevate a flash fiction piece I wrote years ago into a short story. Does anyone have any favorite short story development craft articles, accounts, tips?
I get so intimidated by what my work should become, I end up hobbling my progress. Some great advice I got today: “Try not to take your first draft too seriously. If it helps, draft in comic sans!” At this point, I’m willing to try anything!
I’m intimidated by this place! Are we cozy like Threads? It’s been ages since I was on X but, are we harkening back to Twitter days? Writers, how have you used 🦋 so far? What kind of content do you share and read?
