“They found 25 percent elevated cancer rates. They found the numbers are rising — 30 new cases between 2013 and 2017, climbing to 38 between 2018 and 2022. They found the province withheld the data that would tell us how much worse it really is.

And Alberta says: within normal range.”

Why would anyone expect a public service to make money?

If we're going to use this as a standard, how much money did the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces "lose" in the past eight years?

Why is intelligence the only measure of a humans worth? It is not. These clowns think they’re superior because of their white « culture » but they’re sharing disinformation, nastiness and cruelty - ultimately violence. I’ll take a kind person regardless of intelligence any day over a vicious one.

The callousness of this comment. I know beautiful children who this would destroy. She’s an absolute monster.

Omg. Great news!

And yet nothing political can be taught in schools. There’s FAR too many rural people who will always vote con no matter what. It’s certainly not all of us, but some towns are worse than others. I need to understand things. Trying to understand this is like imagining before the big bang for me.

Felt another earthquake 5 minutes ago in Legal. As long as the industry that’s causing all of these makes money it’s all good. 🙄

Braid: The UCP unveils a new private-pay scheme for blood work, ultrasound and other tests The Alberta UCP has a new plan to create private clinics where Albertans would pay for lab tests, X-ray and ultrasound, without a doc's RX.

I know nothing about you, nor you I. This article suggests they will be private clinics created. That may remain to be seen, but profit seems to be the only thing this govt sees. Either way, there will be displacement of those who need tests - people who are waiting a long time for MRI’s etc.

And private companies (and not this govt) are not going to reinvest for those who can’t afford private. Their goal? Making money for shareholders and themselves. You can fly to another country if you want to pay. Don’t deprive your fellow citizens from care based on need. This will be the result.

There’s capacity? Only because drs are stingy we aren’t getting tests? People paying for tests might be helping the system? That sounds like rationalization or akin to believing in the tooth fairy. There’s a limited amount of staff who work long hours in hospitals etc who likely would jump for $.

What the hell with using the “r” word. Unacceptable.

Sadly the ones who have the means often don’t really give a darn either.

Where are the staff for all this coming from? The public system. What happens if you see something that concerns you (not being a dr or specialist)? You demand to be seen right? The rest of us? We now wait even longer for tests OUR DR’S DEEM NECESSARY. This potentially puts lives at risk.

Or in Alberta we pay taxes anyway, which the province pockets (?) and funds private services in a blatant violation of the Canada Health Act, and possibly our Charter rights.

This is brilliant. Urge all to watch. I learned a lot and realize I’d oversimplified mentally to push this bill to the side with an internal ok. Nazi’s etc are bad. Thank you so much Senator!! Can’t get lazy in my thinking with attempts to neatly categorize and file away anything quickly.

They only care what works. And sadly, many rural will only vote con or they won’t vote.

But they don’t listen to the court and they just change the laws. But let’s try everything because they have to be stopped. I’m tempted to stand outside dale nally’s office every single day with signs hoping others come and join me eventually.

What a wonderful article. Thank you for sharing! It articulates so well something I’ve had troubles defining.
I’ve ranted about the tyranny of positivity-it shuts down authenticity and thus real connection; it quiets voices that want to share and from which others can learn.I’ll share this instead.

It is not the increase from 89 to 91 that is problematic. It is this part of the motion. Throwing out the Electoral Boundaries Commission (and all of their work) and instead creating a new committee of MLAs with a new advisory panel.

100,000 people at the leg. But unfortunately it’s the same people at all the events. And it’s small. Are the others sleepwalking through this? I mean even the woke ones? It’s hella harder to fix after.

It’s fighting time, and not just for Albertans. This contagion will spread. Join Friends of Medicare; donate and or volunteer if you can. Even a small amount of time from enough people can make a tremendous difference! Thanks to all who are doing so already!

People all across Canada need to join friends of Medicare, but especially here in Alberta. Also donate and/or volunteer - any amount from enough people makes a significant difference.
